Monster Lab online action-RPG announced exclusively for Wii

Eidos has announced they will be publishing developer Backbone’s new Wii-exclusive game, Monster Lab. The game is described as “Pokemon meets Tim Burton”, and is an action RPG where you assemble monsters that are then sent into battle. You can even take it online for battling and trading.

Key features included are:
- Pokemon RPG gameplay with a Tim Burton artstyle
- Uses the Wii Remote
- 150 “types” of monsters, more then 100 million variations possible
- You can create/modify your own monsters
- Mechanical/biological/chemical monsters, each with their own strengths
- Wi-Fi online compatible, show your monsters online and make them battle, or just trade pieces or monsters
- Contains minigames
- You can lose limbs/parts of your monster in battle
- Monsters are built using “recipes” that you have to find/get. You will also need to find the right parts/ingrediënts to create the recipe/building plan
- Dark cartoony artstyle
- May 2008 in America and June 2008 in Europe as current target release date
- Developed by Backbone Entertainment (of Death Jr. fame)
- Writing by comic writer, Adam Beechen
- Make designs using the Wiimote to attach to your monsters
- Play as one of three mad scientists: Professor Fuesless, mechanical expert; Dr Sandabar, biology specialist, or; Dr Tchesombra, chemistry expert
- Battle system deeper than Pokemon but not as complex as other RPGs. You can destroy monsters piece by piece
