American football is upon us with Madden NFL 08. This PS3 vs. Xbox 360 comparison video tries to make the graphics side of the simulation game clear. For those who could care less the game’s coming to every other platform available on August 14th in the US and August 30th 2007 in Europe.
You’ve heard all the talk of the PlayStation 3’s trouble with running Madden NFL 08 at 30 frames per second, and the Xbox 360’s super-smooth 60 frames per second. Now can see for yourself just how big the difference is or is not.

The xbox 360 version look hell of a ot better IMO the grass stands out more and the player look lots better
th gameplay looks more rapid aswell. I have both consoles but after watching that i will be getting the 360 version.
Yeah I agree George, the difference seems to be in that the Xbox 360 version just plays smoother.
Two fanboys in action.
There’s no difference in fps between the two clips. Unless there was a text saying which platform it was on, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
Besides, this clip isn’t not running at 60fps, so how would you know? If I would see the two versions playing on an actual 360 and a PS3, then I would see the difference I’m sure.
But in this clip? Hell no.
I can see that the 360 has a better fps. It plays a small role, but they both look good, trust me i played both x360 and PS3 on my Sharp LCD, the color always looks better running on the 1080p for the PS3.(i know there’s the elite xbox 360)
Also you must look at the fact that EA is still trying the work with the 8 cells. They’ve been working with MCU (or whatever) with the xbox for years, I spoke to my bud that works at EA. Even he says give it a year or so and the PS3, will be the one the catch up too.
I’m not a major “fan boy” (god i’m getting old how made up this stupid name), just a gamer. And been dealing with electronics for years now. I know what the PS3 has under that hood. Look at it this way.
The Xbox 360 is a beautiful 500 hoursepower Ford GT. And the Playstation 3 is a 440 hoursepower twin turbo Subaru WRX, that hasn’t hit used the Nos boost yet.
Maybe it was too early to put the PS3 into the races but it’s still looks good so far.
Chris
I can’t believe Bulger threw that out route… should probably stick to the quick slants.
I have a 360 (with many games) and PS3 with only one game (Resistance).
I thought about buying Madden on the PS3 to give my 360 a brake since there has been many mechanical issues and to try to get some use out of the Sony. After much review and thought I still bought it on the 360 because of the questionable FPS on the PS3 with choppiness- if you watch the video on the PS3 it does have some issues if you watch it long enough- I couldn’t believe it, but it did. I have been playing Madden on the 360 and it runs and sounds beautiful in 1080i. The first 360 system I purchased broke down and it was replaced at the store level. The second one works great and if there are going to be any issues they will happen with extended play and of which Microsoft WILL fix with the 1 billion plus they have allocated recently. I am saving my PS3 for when the software developers catch up with the system and am mostly playing blue rays on it now (gotten at Blockbuster(great cheap way to get use out of the Sony) Madden LOOKS AND PLAYS GREAT!
I saw slowdown at 1:03 on the 360. This doesn’t look any different than last year’s Madden. I’m unimpressed, and think that EA needs to start from scratch again. They also look the same. The framerate isn’t an issue.
So I have both systems and rented Madden for both systems to figure out which one I like. The 360 IS a LITTLE smoother. But overall, Madden on 360 and PS3 SUCK!!! The best version of madden is on the regular xbox. Theres too much extra shit added to the good ol game of pigskin! SLow videos, can’t fast forward through challenges, they play pick format, etc…all need improvement. EA, if you read this, start Madden from scratch again!! Use the xbox template.
First of all i am tierd of this whole battle between systems. We all know they have their advantages and in xbox’s case disadvantages
I am tired of XBOX making these claims to sound better. For example, when they realeased an update to make the 360’s capable of transmitting in 1080P. Well maybe its capable, but with no HDMI on the older units, it will never happen. 60 FPS, what television do you know that can display 60 FPS? US standard is 30FPS, thats what they are designed to do, again, another useless fact to sell units.
Just my $.02
To John:
Component video cables are completely capable of transmitting a 1080p signal, it is their technical specification and the standard 360 makes use of this. Secondly, 60fps makes (even if a little) a difference because it is how often the characters are refreshed and how often the variables are updated, it’s not simply the image. The higher the frames the closer to real-life. This may not make much of a difference but the PS3 falling UNDER 30 fps does.
