Okami 2 sequel and Okami Wii port wanted by its designer

The action/adventure game Okami was made by Capcom for PS2. It combined several Japanese myths and legends to tell the story of how the land was saved from darkness by the Shinto sun goddess, named Amaterasu, who has taken the form of a white wolf that you played as.

And if Devil May Cry creator and Okami designer Hideki Kamiya has anything to do with it, there’ll be more epic wolf action soon in an Okami 2 sequel that he has in mind. He revealed Capcom has no concrete plans to make Okami 2, and nothing has been greenlit. However, insiders told Kotaku that while it’s not his decision to make, he would still really like to create Okami 2.

Meanwhile, Capcom’s Mega Man designer Keiji Inafune is considering a Wii port saying: “Of course [a Wii version of Okami is] something that I’ve personally thought about, but it’s easier said than done. It’s a cliche, but it’s not just saying, ‘Okay, let’s port it over here.’ There’s technology, controls and then people to make the game, whether it’s scheduling or knowing the hardware you want to take it to.”

Obviously it would be a perfect match for the Wii motion sensor controls, so he continued: “It’s not out of the realm of possibility, but we don’t have any plans for it right now, and nothing to comment on,” he told Gameinformer.

Update November 6th 2008: Capcom has released their sales data for the Wii version of Okami that was released earlier in 2008. Total sales on Wii were over 300,000, that’s 210,000 units sold in America and 90,000 units sold in Europe! At last count in March 2007, after a year the PlayStation 2 version of Okami ended up selling 270,000 units worldwide. — I guess what I’m getting at is that overall sales of 570,000+ would make a possible Okami sequel more likely.

omg okami 2 if it would come out i would be so happy okami>>>>>>>>> zelda man im serious but maybe if they do make okami 2 *prays* it could have Tsukuyomi the moon god in it when u arrive to the plains he is bad so ammy and Tsukuyomi fught but then some evil being pops up then out of nowhere ammy and Tsukuyomi fuse so you could switch over them and Tsukuyomi has dark powers but ammy has the light powers it would be epic =D

Personally, I do hope that they make a sequel to Okami. True, it was very reminiscent of a Zelda title (Twilight Princess in particular) but it was one of those few titles where it was such a good game, I didn’t mind that it had the same feeling; the art design itself was more than enough to divert from that fact, and the Japanese mythology was tied together splendidly to create this wonderful, living, breathing game, and I can only hope that Seed decides to do a follow-up

i have read stories people makeup about the okami game and if they make a second one they should make it begin waka planting the sapling he has in the end that he is holding in his hand,and then a spirit sort of like sakuya gives him and ammy a wish for saving the celestial plain and he wishes he and ammy can be alike,so she makes him able to transform into a blond wolf,and ammy can return back to her goddess self

I think that it would be a great feat to make Okami 2, the first one was so magical I mean at the end I even cried. It was the most amazing game I’ve played in a really long time. I agreed with my friend that it would ruin the games beauty if you made a second, at first, but thinking about it, I really want one. I think that it really would be the best thing to do. I think you should get to the ‘Plains’ and find that the demons have taken over that world. Ect.. It would be amazing, please make a secomd Okami. We all would buy it, that much you do know!?

when i first first beat okami i was sad becouse it was the end to the best game ever. on the sequel (if made) should be in the plains issun finds a way to the plain and you reunite. you should also kepp some of your brush moves if not all and get new ones like rock fall and shadow conseal

Yeah, the scenes the story line..EVERYTHING!! it was so breathtaking, i totally loved it! so yeah make a sequel! im sure lots of fans will be happy =D

when i reached the ending i was totally sad!! then when i heard issun said that the story isnt over i was like +_+ “really!?” then i scrolled around the internet to find this..ZOMG GUYS GREENLIGHT OKAMI 2!!! IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST GAMES EVER!!!! (well in my opinion THE best game ever ;D)

so make make make or i shall make an angry mob of okami fans waiting for a sequel!!! +_+ *begs*

yeah… this is Nickolas Peetz and its been quite some time and i’ve been hoping for progress. COME ON! Okami 2 is needed if i wish to die happy (and yes. i do) i’ve played Okami on some of my spare time. its so wonderfull. i’ve beaten it like 30 times. almost 100% done. and an Okami 2 would be like Jesus flying down my street with bob marley and led zepplin on a magic horse.. it would be magical and i ASURE u i’d donate money. tell me where SEED! cuz ur gunna get some $ $ $ if u make okami 2. O ^ O… seriously. please… please greenlight okami 2. . . and that angry mod.. im in it definatly XD and im no pushover nerd. im very strong and i’ll SWIM to seed if u make me e_e…. PLEASE greenlight Okami 2! PLEASE.
