Okami 2 sequel and Okami Wii port wanted by its designer

The action/adventure game Okami was made by Capcom for PS2. It combined several Japanese myths and legends to tell the story of how the land was saved from darkness by the Shinto sun goddess, named Amaterasu, who has taken the form of a white wolf that you played as.

And if Devil May Cry creator and Okami designer Hideki Kamiya has anything to do with it, there’ll be more epic wolf action soon in an Okami 2 sequel that he has in mind. He revealed Capcom has no concrete plans to make Okami 2, and nothing has been greenlit. However, insiders told Kotaku that while it’s not his decision to make, he would still really like to create Okami 2.

Meanwhile, Capcom’s Mega Man designer Keiji Inafune is considering a Wii port saying: “Of course [a Wii version of Okami is] something that I’ve personally thought about, but it’s easier said than done. It’s a cliche, but it’s not just saying, ‘Okay, let’s port it over here.’ There’s technology, controls and then people to make the game, whether it’s scheduling or knowing the hardware you want to take it to.”

Obviously it would be a perfect match for the Wii motion sensor controls, so he continued: “It’s not out of the realm of possibility, but we don’t have any plans for it right now, and nothing to comment on,” he told Gameinformer.

Update November 6th 2008: Capcom has released their sales data for the Wii version of Okami that was released earlier in 2008. Total sales on Wii were over 300,000, that’s 210,000 units sold in America and 90,000 units sold in Europe! At last count in March 2007, after a year the PlayStation 2 version of Okami ended up selling 270,000 units worldwide. — I guess what I’m getting at is that overall sales of 570,000+ would make a possible Okami sequel more likely.

I loved Okami, but so has everyone else here, as its been established. But, alas, they did not make enough money, so i guess they kinda tossed the idea, or i believe some other company took over the rights, so they might make a new one, but it wont be as good or similarily done as the first. Fingers crossed for Okami 2!

HEY! OKAMI 2 MUST COME OUT! there r so many ties to it. such as: Wakka at the end with the seed in hand, and them heading to the plains. also, many times said by issun and wakka that it was just the begining of a even greater adventure. ALSO before the celestial plains had been invaded by demons, so Ammy and wakka have to go and clear them out. another thing is that, when the moon tribe sent the Ark of Yammato, y were there demons on it, so they would have to investigate that. Ive also heard that yes, CLOVER shut down, but they made a new company didnt they? so couldnt that company make and okami 2? anyways, these are all the reasons i can come up with for ties to Okami 2, but im sure there are more, so Okami 2, will u marry me? lol

I would be wonderful to continue the journey once again… The game at the end practically said it would continue…I hope they make another one, I just fear that it won’t be as wonderful as the first with a different person behind the wheel, I wish Clover was still around…

OMG!!!!! A NEW OKAMI CALLED “OKAMIDEN” (okami chronicles). It comes out in 2010 for the DS. you r like some sort of small amaterasu called “Chibiterasu”…… fail i know. BUT STILL IM BUYING IT!!! I hope all you okami lovers buy it too cause apparently it does tie off from the first game just a few months after the worl is saved. Google it!

But please make another!!1 I would so like to see what would happen when Ammy and Waka reaches the celestial plain! And Susano and Kushi’s kid! Haha making it for the wii is also wise as the PS2

they have made okami 2.you play as ammys son with susanos son on a journey to the one who called ammy to earth in the first place.only for the ds sadly
