First StarCraft 2 single player info

starcraft 2 new protoss artIn Blizzard’s new 3D RTS game StarCraft 2 the Protoss, Terran, and Zerg races return to battle with new units and gameplay mechanics. While fans are most excited about the new multiplayer support, with new competitive features and matchmaking utilities available through Battle.net, single player shouldn’t be overlooked because it is now non-linear.

The single player campaign picks up where StarCraft: Brood War left off, StarCraft II will present a cast of new heroes and familiar faces in an edgy sci-fi story filled with adventure and intrigue. Today at BlizzCon 2007 Blizzard’s Vice President Rob Pardo, showed a demo that started out on a Terran battlecruiser where he directly controlled the well-known Starcraft personage Jim Raynor through ship’s decks. Gamepro was present and discovered there will be plenty to do outside of the game’s RTS battles. To quote:

“Indeed, much of the game revolves around your interactions with ship’s crew, as well as its various systems. You’ll buy access to units, for example, from the engineering deck’s technology console, and you’ll travel through the game’s universe by means of a star map.

Money will be earned by completing missions, which you can spend to increase the size of your army, or to gain access to new technologies. The former are expendable, but any technologies you research will remain with you throughout the entire campaign. All of this only applies, of course, to the single-player campaign; skirmish matches will adhere to the same rules you’d expect them to.”

Take a look at an epic battle between the Protoss, Terran and finally Zerg.
