Pre-order Lair for PS3The PS3 exclusive action game Lair that has you control a dragon (and dragons are awesome!) is delayed a few weeks because of some extra game testing to enhance the community features in the game, reports Sony’s blog.

The release date for Lair, originally set for August 14th, has thus been delayed to September 4th, 2007. To quote the reason: “Natural challenges that arose while finalizing the offline game to include key online features – such as leaderboards and medal systems – have led to the difficult choice of pushing back the release date.”

Murmurs around the web are saying the actual delay reason was because early magazine reviews for the game were disappointing, since controls still needed to be tweaked. EGM’s editors rated it 6, 5.5 & 5 out of 10, while Gamepro was a little friendlier with 3.75 out of 5. Both magazines complained the PS3′s Sixaxis controls didn’t always work as they should and that the motion controls while fiddling with buttons in a fairly long game got tiring fast for such a gimmicky feature. That’s paraphrasing their words. Still, the game was described as “pretty damn awesome.”
