NBA 2K8 has a release date of October 7th, 2007 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PS2. As always, it is being developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Sports. On the cover this year is Chris Paul of the New Orleans, Louisiana “Hornets”, a Rookie of the Year winner and rising star in the NBA.
With NBA 2K8, the series is receiving a complete AI overhaul, allowing for the most realistic basketball yet in the series. And not only is the AI more realistic, but players like Steve Nash of the Phoenix “Suns” will always hit those open shots if there is no defense around, as it’s not based solely around mathematics. Players will hit shots they are supposed to hit.
The overhaul also applies to players like Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, and Agent Zero, who are great at driving the ball through heavy traffic, and now they have a specific rating that tells you whether they can hit those once impossible (In NBA games) shots, based on their specialties.
Graphics have been given a complete face-lift, including crowds & player models, as well physics, momentum and movement. The new footplanting technology assures that players have to realistically plant their feet before moving.

THQ announced Worms: A Space Oddity for Wii, the newest iteration of the popular turn-based strategy game, is scheduled for release in spring 2008. Retaining the humor synonymous with the Worms brand, Worms: A Space Oddity (an obvious pun on the Stanley Kubrick sci-fi film 2001: A Space Odyssey) marks the franchise debut on the Wii with a fresh visual style, new environmental settings, intuitive controls and even more customization options. Players will be closer to the action than ever before, launching attacks through a wide range of gesture-based maneuvers only possible with the Wii Remote.
In Worms: A Space Oddity, players will enjoy the ultimate blend of classic Worms game modes and re-invented single-player missions, as well as multiplayer modes that include a host of all-new party games and even more customization options. The game takes advantage of the Wii’s intuitive controls, on-screen hints and the redesigned interface with an in-game help system. Worms: A Space Oddity demonstrates significant visual, technical and design advancement over its predecessors with a new visual style that abandons the traditional drawn approach and replaces it with a distinctive style inspired by classic Sci-Fi looks. The Worms battles take place across six planets, each with its own, unique environments and global events. The online multiplayer experience pits up to four Worms fiends from all over the world against each other.
Worms: A Space Oddity is being developed by Team17. Along with this title for 2008, two additional titles in the Worms series, Worms: Open Warfare 2 for DS & PSP and Worms 2007 for wireless handsets, are scheduled for release in fall 2007.
The TimeShift demo is now available for download on Xbox Live Marketplace. The 582MB playable TimeShift demo should give you a good idea on whether the game’s additional year of development did it right or not. The FPS game’s release date is October 30th on PC & Xbox 360 and in December 2007 on PS3.
The game’s storyline explains Dr. Aiden Krone has made a Time Jump across the space-time continuum – a reckless act with frightening consequences. Now, a disturbing alternate reality has evolved within the bleak and rain-soaked Alpha District. Armed with the experimental Beta Suit, you alone are able to slow, stop and reverse the flow of time. Only with this ability can you lead the uprising to victory and put an end to Krone’s madness.
According to GameStop’s “Coming Soon” games binder that’s in stores, the NES versions of Contra and Super C will be included in Contra 4! This makes the $30 DS action game an even better deal, since both Konami’s NES games are available on the Wii Virtual Console at a price of $5 each. Contra 4 has a U.S. release date on November 13, 2007.
Refining the 2D side-scrolling genre the series established 20 years ago, Contra 4 delivers pure (single player & co-op) action at a fever pitch as players jump, shoot, and dodge oncoming hazards. Utilizing a new dual screen presentation, the action spans both screens of the Nintendo DS, giving players the opportunity to battle across expansive environments in which death can come from any direction.
The use of both screens for the game’s core action also allows for massive boss battles as players try to seek and destroy the weak points of sky-high enemies. A first for the series, Contra 4 introduces a grappling hook accessory that lets players grab onto elements of the environment directly above them. Whether using it to avoid oncoming dangers or attack from a strategic vantage point, the grappling hook allows for new combat situations and dramatic set pieces that underscore the game’s adrenaline-soaked pedigree.

Yeah the music is missing, but it’s still a nice preview.
You can find this secret message while playing around with the radio in Samus’s ship in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption on Wii. The signal code is the one you use in the beginning.
Here’s the recording of Nintendo’s president Satoru Iwata.
The Japanese message translates to: “Hello, this is Iwata from Nintendo. You may not know from an outsiders point of view, but being a director is really hard! When things are really busy and stressful we (us directors) may look tired and sick, then people may feel sorry for us! But in my case, it’s the opposite, I get fatter and fatter, so then people don’t think I’m stressed at all!”

After the Adults Only-rating for Manhunt 2 in America this week went down to a Mature-rating, meaning it can be published on Wii, PS2 & PSP. It now looks like the outright banning of the game in European countries like England, Ireland & Italy won’t stop it from getting an uncut PAL release in the Netherlands.
The Dutch Ministry has declined to intervene in the videogame’s path to retail in the territory, because that would conflict with current Netherlands law.
According to the Associated Press, it will still be possible to prosecute people who distribute the game to those under 16-years-old, but no such case has yet been tried in the country.
In a letter to Parliament, Justice Minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin said: “The current law is based on the principle that every adult is considered capable of deciding for himself which games he wants to play, unless it contains illegal material.” Deciding on whether children should be allowed to play a game is currently “the joint responsibility of parents, the audiovisual industry and the government,” he continued.
He said that his ministry was now examining whether new laws or policies were needed “to better protect the youth” and pleaded for a unified EU standard for video game ratings.
Today Nintendo of Europe added new classic games to the popular Wii Shop Channel. The games went live at midnight CET. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at stores like Amazon UK (Card).
We’ve included videos for nostalgia’s sake or so you can see if it’s for you, since these two like last week’s NES game Wrecking Crew are more games that first and so far only appeared in Europe. This week’s new games are:
Bonk 3: Bonk’s Big Adventure (for 600 Wii Points = €6) – out now on Virtual Console – is the head-banging hero’s third and final Turbografx instalment, and he really goes out with a bang!
Bash your way through seven rounds of comical action, to defeat the dastardly King Drool once and for all, and discover all-new power-ups like the candies that change Bonk’s size from microscopic to a monstrous fire-breathing giant.
With huge bosses to battle, new bonus stages to discover, and even a two-player mode, Bonk 3 is undoubtedly the caveman’s craziest adventure ever.
