Fury brings Unreal Tournament-style combat to MMO’s with a PC release date of this fall

astrotriforce July 26th, 2007 Listen to this article "Hey! Listen!"

Fury is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game where player advancement is 100% PvP focused (that’s player versus player) and is scheduled for release sometime this year (probably October 2007) by developer Auran and publisher GameCock Media Group. It basically looks to bring the first-person shooter style of say something like Unreal Tournament and bring it to the MMO genre.

In Fury, there are no classes, you basically enter a fight by putting together a character from one of four specific school’s of magic: Life, Death, Growth and Decay and your character can eventually learn all the magic in the game. Before entering a battle, you use points to determine what magic, weapons and armor you can play with, similar to deck-building in a card game (so you can’t use everything you have earned).

Unleash the Fury Trailer - Shows up-close combat

And unlike the combat in most MMO’s, combat in Fury is instant, meaning you push a button and you get a reaction. There are over 400 spells and abilities in the game, and combat can be either solo, or in teams (of 4 to 16) and uses a matchmaking feature to place equally skilled players against each other. Beowulf, with a release date on November 13th, hacks-and-slashes it’s way to Xbox 360, PS3, PC and PSP

astrotriforce July 26th, 2007 Listen to this article "Hey! Listen!"

Beowulf Screenshot 1 (Xbox 360, PS3, PC)
Fans of hack-and-slash style action games look to be in heaven in the coming months leading up to Christmas and beyond. Games like Heavenly Sword, Conan the Barbarian, Devil May Cry 4 and now Beowulf are sure to satisfy your bloodlust.

Beowulf is an upcoming hack-and-slash action game coming for Xbox 360, PS3, PC and PSP on November 13th 2007 from Ubisoft and developer Ubisoft Tiwak.

It includes tactical squad elements and is based on the upcoming Beowulf movie of the same name (also coming in November) which in turn is based on an old poem from the Middle Ages that’s inspired everything from The Lord of the Rings to The 13th Warrior (I’d be willing to bet 300 and Conan could be added to that list).

For more in-depth info on the game watch the early debut trailer (emphasis on early, much of the graphical enhancements and effects are yet to be added) and read a question and answer with the developer.

Heroes - Season One on DVDToday Ubisoft announced that it has signed a licensing agreement with Universal Pictures Digital Platforms Group to create a videogame based on the television drama series Heroes. The third-person action/adventure game will come to next-generation consoles and PCs in early fall 2008.

The first season of Tim Kring’s hit TV series has attracted over 14 million viewers each week and is one of the most popular shows among 18-49 year-olds. Time magazine named Heroes one of the Top 10 TV shows for 2006, and the phenomenon is now broadcast in more than 30 countries across the globe.

“With a gripping storyline and rich characters, Heroes lends itself naturally to a video game format,” said Christian Salomon, vice president of worldwide licensing at Ubisoft. “By offering people the chance to interact directly with the show’s captivating universe, there is no doubt that the game will appeal to both fans of the series and avid gamers.”

“We are very excited to be making the Heroes video game with Ubisoft,” said Tim Kring, executive producer and creator of Heroes. “Time and again, Ubisoft has proven they can turn licensed properties into fantastic games.”

It’s still not clear if Chris (who has a new voice and new moves like dodging) is working for good or evil. And who’s the woman? Maybe it’s Sherry who survived the Raccoon City incident?

Grand Theft Auto 4 previews summarized

supadupagama July 26th, 2007 Listen to this article "Hey! Listen!"

Grand Theft Auto 4 city screenshot
The past few weeks a lot of big Grand Theft Auto 4 previews have appeared in magazines and websites that got exclusive interviews with the game’s developers at Rockstar.

Pre-order Grand Theft Auto IV for Xbox 360One of the more surprising comments was when Rockstar’s Hosi Simon in an interview with Gamesradar says when people are met with the choice between the Xbox 360 and PS3 version of the game, they should choose the Xbox 360 version because of the extra episodic content that will be downloadable after release: “They’re identical games. We’re not hardware makers, and we’re not like a pawn between these companies, we try not to be as much as we can. We make great games for people to enjoy on whichever system they want. But I guess if you want the complete experience with the episodes, then yeah, you should buy [the version on Xbox] 360, I suppose.”

Pre-order Grand Theft Auto IV for PS3Here’s a summary of what the new GTA 4 previews tell us:

* The GTA 4 demo which was shown is from the Xbox 360 version of the game. The PlayStation 3 version is still “a week or two behind,” according to Rockstar. The build shown is 5 weeks old, and the framerate has improved considerably since the last demo.
* At Star Junction (the GTA IV equivalent of Times Square) there is a theatre show on called T.S Pirate at the Thespian Theatre, and a camera store called Liberty Cameras. On the way to Rotterdam (where Little Jacob is situated) they passed a cocktail bar called “Bahama Mamas.”
* Little Jacob is a Jamaican gun dealer from Dukes (the GTA IV equivalent of Queens.) The weapons on offer were $100 a piece. Read more…

Avatar movie posterUbisoft announced a game based on Twentieth Century Fox’s Avatar, the upcoming film written and directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker James Cameron, whose previous films include Titanic, True Lies, The Abyss, Aliens, The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The game is expected to release in conjunction with the movie’s planned opening in May 2009.

Avatar is the story of an ex-Marine who finds himself thrust into hostilities on an alien planet filled with exotic life forms. As an Avatar, a human mind in an alien body, he finds himself torn between two worlds, in a desperate fight for his own survival and that of the indigenous people. More than ten years in the making, Avatar marks Cameron’s return to feature directing since helming 1997’s Titanic, the highest grossing film of all time and winner of eleven Oscars including Best Picture. The Avatar cast includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, and Sigourney Weaver. Academy Award-winning visual effects house, WETA Digital, renowned for its work in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and King Kong, will incorporate new intuitive CGI technologies to transform the environments and characters into photorealistic 3D imagery that will transport the audience into the alien world rich with imaginative vistas, creatures and characters.
