Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings (DS) release date is November 20th 2007. New trailer, gameplay videos and interview from E3 2007
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings for Nintendo DS is an all-new installment in the Final Fantasy XII storyline that continues that game’s tale and is part of Square’s “Ivalice Alliance”, games that take place in the world of Ivalice that was first birthed in Final Fantasy Tactics on the PS1. Like in Final Fantasy XII for PS2, main characters Vaan, Penelo, Fran and Balthier make an appearance in this new game, complete with an all-new deformed look, which is more fitting for a DS title. The game even features beautifully rendered CG cut-scenes!
What’s the most different about this new DS title is it’s Japanese take on the almost exclusively western RTS genre! While the game maintains all the trappings of an RPG, the gameplay is really a real-time strategy title as you wield the DS stylus to control massive armies, unleash special moves and equip Gambits. The system is very easy to grasp, you simply click on units (or drag to select multiples), and touch the screen to move them to that location. And it’s an experiment of sorts for Square who wanted to bring the RTS genre to the masses in Japan in a way that they would grasp onto and easily understand.
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings is scheduled for release in the US on November 20th 2007 for the Nintendo DS. Watch the new trailer for the game as well as an interview from E3 2007 for more info on the title, and gameplay videos to show you how the game actually plays.
