Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock new guitars shown and Slash put in-game

Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock is the full name of Activision and and Red Octane’s next Guitar Hero game.

If you already have a guitar, you won’t need to buy a new one on PS2 or Xbox 360, but Guitar Hero fans will be able to rock out with new wireless guitar controllers for each platform. Gibson Guitar’s Les Paul model will be the battle axe of choice on the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii. After much anticipation, PS2 fans will also be receiving a new exclusive shape as well (shown above), the classic Kramer guitar, also a Gibson brand, popularized by hard rockers and known for its body design, pickups, electronics, and construction for furious finger fretting. The exclusive Gibson guitars will include innovative features such as removable faceplates that will allow fans to personalize their guitars, and a new button color design will be integrated for an even greater authentic feel and rock experience. Note that the Wii version (on your right) has a spot to plug in the Wiimote!

Activision today announced that legendary guitar hero Slash will provide an original track and appear as a boss battle character in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, delivering wannabe rock stars the chance to shred against the music icon. That’s right he let himself be scanned in 3D to appear in the game, pretty awesome.

“Guitar legend Slash, combined with Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock’s robust soundtrack and innovative new game features, will continue to solidify the brand’s leadership in the rhythm-action genre,” said Robin Kaminsky, executive vice president of Activision Publishing.

Additionally, Guns N’ Roses’ rock anthem hit “Welcome to the Jungle” will be included in the game’s robust soundtrack that also features master tracks by such renowned rock bands as The Rolling Stones, Beastie Boys, Muse and Pearl Jam. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is slated for release this fall.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if the Wii version of the game, where you plug in the Wii remote to the wireless guitar, was motion sensitive? You’d be guitar jiving and get extra points for showing off! It probably won’t work like that, though.
