Legendary: The Box, all new fantasy first-person shooter for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, is picked up for publishing by GameCock. Debut trailer shown

GameCock has announced that they will be publishing Spark Unlimited’s upcoming fantasy first-person shooter Legendary: The Box, which is coming in spring 2008 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Legendary: The Box is set in New York, where art thief Charles Deckard accidentally steals Pandora’s Box. He opens the box, and unleashes all form of magical beasts, werewolves, and gryphons into the world via the newly opened portal. Deckard’s goal is to find a way to get the mythical monsters back into Pandora’s Box to seal them forever and save civilization.

The FPS game has a cinematic, dramatic and survival-horror feel to it as you engage mythical creatures in epic battles. Fierce firefights with smart enemies in big open environments (along with many enclosed ones) make for an exciting and memorable experience.

Not to mention that the game includes RE4 style scenes if certain enemies get too close for comfort; press the right buttons and you’ll be rewarded by spreading the creature’s brain matter all over the place in a brutal display. Like a lot of modern shooters, you can only hold two weapons at a time and an explosive. Weapons include: shotgun, assault rifle, an axe, and the unbelievably cool SAW (aka the big machinegun). Multiplayer will also be included although details have yet to be shown.

Craig Allen, Spark Unlimited’s CEO, commented, “Like most developers, we’ve always had a dream game that we’ve secretly been working on. We’ve made a name for ourselves with World War II first-person shooters, but Legendary: The Box is our labour of love.”

Spark Unlimited is based in Sherman Oaks, California, and was founded in 2002 by former Medal of Honor developers. Other Spark Unlimited titles are Call of Duty: Finest Hour and the upcoming Turning Point: Fall of Liberty.
