Resistance: Fall of Man under fire from the Church of England
Yesterday the Church of England accused Sony of using the Manchester Cathedral in the UK as the backdrop to a violent computer game, and said it should be withdrawn from shop shelves. The church said Sony did not ask for permission to use their cathedral in-game and will be sending a letter to Sony on Monday to demand an apology. A spokesman for the Church of England said if the church’s request for an apology and withdrawal of the game was not met it would consider legal action.
The popular (million-selling) new PlayStation 3 game, Resistance: Fall of Man, shows a virtual shootout between rival gunmen inside the cathedral. Church officials described Sony’s alleged use of the building as “sick” and “sacrilegious”. There’s just one problem with their statement, the game takes place in an ALTERNATE HISTORY and the discussed scene lasts a few minutes where you are shooting ALIENS!
Take a look at the BBC News report:
Sony spokesman, David Wilson, gave a simple reply to the Herald Tribune about the situation: “It is game-created footage, it is not video or photography. It is entertainment, like Doctor Who or any other science fiction. It is not based on reality at all. Throughout the whole process we have sought permission where necessary.”

A warning to people visiting the Sunday morning worship in the Manchester Cathedral, there might be aliens lurking.
