Cities of Heroes MMORPG picked up for film and TV series

City of Heroes for PCX-Men (2000), X2 (2003) and Transformers (2007) producer Tom DeSanto, who owns over 30,000 comics, has secured the film rights to NCsoft and Cryptic Studios’ video game Cities of Heroes (2004). His plan is to adapt the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) into a live-action feature and then transition it to television in some form.

Mr. DeSanto said he wanted to do the project because it offered “one-stop shopping for characters and plots. You also haven’t seen a big superheroes vs. aliens movie. I see this as the next big superhero franchise.”

Superheroes soar high above a towering metropolis in City of Heroes, fighting to save Paragon City from a rising tide of crime. They must team up in order to fight an invasion of aliens known as the Rikti.
