Sly Cooper 4 for PS3 and Sly Cooper sequel for PSP will connect when released

The latest issue of PSM Magazine has an interview with Sly Cooper series developer Sucker Punch. The developers mention that we should expect to see Sly Cooper 4, presumably for the PS3, at E3, and an exclusive new Sly Cooper for the PSP as well. Here’s what they had to say about their upcoming platform-adventure Sly 4:

“The graphics have been majorly overhauled and the gameplay will be more varied and focused this time around. We’re aiming for a fully interactive 3-D world, with no loads and seamless interaction between settings and characters.”

Why does PSXextreme assume it’s for the PS3? Because the two Sly Cooper games are set to come out simultaneously and they will have connectivity with one another! This will be the first time we’ve seen this on next-gen consoles & handhelds; a game coming out at the same time for PS3 and PSP, and featuring connectivity right away at their release date in 2008.

Update May 2009: Although two years after the article the 2008 release date was proven wrong/delayed (2010 is more likely), developer Sucker Punch hinted — in the pre-order-only demo of their upcoming PS3 game Infamous — towards Sly Cooper 4 being in development! As you can see in the screenshot below, Sly Cooper 4 is listed among several fake movie titles on a cinema billboard in Infamous.

Sucker Punch really should make Sly 4.
So you’re telling me that this game will come (if this game ever will come) to PS3 or to PSP? Bad thing. I don’t have Playstation 3, but at least I’ve got PSP. Still, I think that Sly 4 should be for PS2.
Actually, if Sly 4 will never come, I’m going to be crazy. When I did see the ending of Sly 3, it made me wonder – What happens to Sly and Carmelita and what Bentley is up to with the time travelling machine? Those just make me think..

Well, I bet that Sly 4 will come. Sly series turned out to be popular after all. It would be actually sad if Sucker Punch wouldn’t create Sly 4. At least I think so.
But the things I wish most are that Sly 4 will be created and it’ll be for Playstation 2.

i love sly and i completed sly 1 and 3 before the 2nd but when i finished sly 3 i actually cryed!!
i was so angry! that ending sucked! and the thing about bentlys time machine what does that have to do with any thing?
why havnt they brought out sly 4 yet! i have a psp and ps2 but even if i get it for psp if i cant play on it on ps2 i will be so pissed off!

I love Sly and beat the first 3 games. I really want the 4th game to be on ps2. So please make alot of fans happy and release it to ps2.

and they probably are going to make it for ps2 because everyone has more ps2s than ps3s and pspss combined. and the psps and ps3 sly coper games will not be the same thing.
the psp game is an exclusive
