Sly Cooper 4 for PS3 and Sly Cooper sequel for PSP will connect when released

The latest issue of PSM Magazine has an interview with Sly Cooper series developer Sucker Punch. The developers mention that we should expect to see Sly Cooper 4, presumably for the PS3, at E3, and an exclusive new Sly Cooper for the PSP as well. Here’s what they had to say about their upcoming platform-adventure Sly 4:

“The graphics have been majorly overhauled and the gameplay will be more varied and focused this time around. We’re aiming for a fully interactive 3-D world, with no loads and seamless interaction between settings and characters.”

Why does PSXextreme assume it’s for the PS3? Because the two Sly Cooper games are set to come out simultaneously and they will have connectivity with one another! This will be the first time we’ve seen this on next-gen consoles & handhelds; a game coming out at the same time for PS3 and PSP, and featuring connectivity right away at their release date in 2008.

Update May 2009: Although two years after the article the 2008 release date was proven wrong/delayed (2010 is more likely), developer Sucker Punch hinted — in the pre-order-only demo of their upcoming PS3 game Infamous — towards Sly Cooper 4 being in development! As you can see in the screenshot below, Sly Cooper 4 is listed among several fake movie titles on a cinema billboard in Infamous.

inFAMOUS 2 has been annouced… We may see a little update about Sly at E3 or… they might have just teased us with inFAMOUS 2 and decided
to show sly 4… or they might both be shown.

why would it go for the ps3 when the other ones went to the ps2 because now most people will have to buy a ps3 and that is the only game that would be one people would play on it

2: sly faked amnesia
3: carmellita faked knowing sly did not have amnesia and arrests him
4: bently wont join gang (all penelope’s fault) so sly, murray and bently come to an agreement… get the gang back together with penelope as an official member
4: STORY LINE: carmellita gets captured by the antagonist (bad guy) and he tells 9 people… you go to there locations and open a vault, get a clue about carmellita’s location (you have missions in each location to open each clue vault (not just the 30 “clue bottles”))
5: probably will come out summer 2011 or christmas 2011 or summer 2012-christmas 2012
6: clue bottles WILL be in sly 4
