Sly Cooper 4 for PS3 and Sly Cooper sequel for PSP will connect when released

The latest issue of PSM Magazine has an interview with Sly Cooper series developer Sucker Punch. The developers mention that we should expect to see Sly Cooper 4, presumably for the PS3, at E3, and an exclusive new Sly Cooper for the PSP as well. Here’s what they had to say about their upcoming platform-adventure Sly 4:

“The graphics have been majorly overhauled and the gameplay will be more varied and focused this time around. We’re aiming for a fully interactive 3-D world, with no loads and seamless interaction between settings and characters.”

Why does PSXextreme assume it’s for the PS3? Because the two Sly Cooper games are set to come out simultaneously and they will have connectivity with one another! This will be the first time we’ve seen this on next-gen consoles & handhelds; a game coming out at the same time for PS3 and PSP, and featuring connectivity right away at their release date in 2008.

Update May 2009: Although two years after the article the 2008 release date was proven wrong/delayed (2010 is more likely), developer Sucker Punch hinted — in the pre-order-only demo of their upcoming PS3 game Infamous — towards Sly Cooper 4 being in development! As you can see in the screenshot below, Sly Cooper 4 is listed among several fake movie titles on a cinema billboard in Infamous.

dude but if you remember clockworks pieces disentigrated at the end of the 2nd one remember i just got the first one again for the third time and i saw at the end the eyes of cloockwork relight and then the second one there are no pieces

Sly games are the best and i have played and beat them all but personally don’t have a ps3, i got a 360 and psp but don’t know if i’ll get a ps3. Why can’t they make one last ps2 game?

As long as the games are exactly the same i wouldn’t mind buying it for psp. Cuz $350 is alot of $ and i have to buy everything myself.

I can’t believe Sly 4 wont be out for PSP!!!!!! Who cares about the new “exclusive” game for PSP! I wanna see what happens in Sly 4!!!!!!!!!!!

I have freakin murdered all the sly games and out of the three, Sly 2 is the best one. I hate levels 4 & 5 on it but the first level is so fun, you get to just sneak around in the dark and then go in the awesome nightclub. It just beasts every other level made, Thank You sucker punch productions for blowin my mind full of awesomeness!!!!!

Sly 2 is deffinately the greatest game ever made. The first level is amazing when your in the dark and you are in the nightclub, AMAZING!! and then level 6 is amazing, riding on those trains is beast when your in the front, i just think its awesome, and once again i hate lv 4 and 5

sly 1,2 and 3 were some of the best games I’ve ever played. if a sly 4 comes out I’m buying it right away. you rock people at sucker punch
