MotorStorm 2 sequel confirmed for PS3, in development at Evolution Studios

Good news for the MotorStorm fans, MotorStorm 2 was confirmed by the creators at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) back on March 7th, 2007, a day after the American release of the first racing game. To quote:

“Proceeding the Phil Harrison Keynote last week, PSU ran into a few guys from Evolution Studios, whom all were wearing MotorStorm attire. After a little chit-chat about the keynote speech and thoughts on Sony’s recent announcements, we began to ask questions about MotorStorm and what Evolution Studios had next on their list.

‘MotorStorm 2!’ was the reply and its been in development for quite some time. Outside of announcing the title, the developers wouldn’t divulge into any other details, other than its being built on a revamped version of the original MotorStorm Engine.” — Via PSU

What kind of improvements would you like to see in MotorStorm 2? While a Time Attack Mode is being added via patch to the original, personally I think any sequel needs: a longer Single Player Mode, a Quick Race Mode, and 2-4 Player Offline Multiplayer!

The Motorstorm franchise to be is more than capable of earning itself the name of greatest racing games ever made. The depth of the experience of motorstorm is both adicting and aggrevating at the same instant. The second installment of the series will hopefully be based in a tropical setting. The totla number of games in the series is unlimited due to the geographical variety of the planet. Who’s to say the series has to even stay on dry ground? I’d like to see an ocean / power boat / hydro thunder aweomness installment.

Hopefully they’ll add all of the vehicles and all the tracks they LEFT OUT of the first one! I mena, it plays nice, but it seriously lacks depth. 1 week and you are done…

Ken, you must have played it solidly to have finished in a week. Motorstorm is good cos theres no other game like it.

so gamers, what do you think about getting motorstorm for the psp?
that would be superb!
heres the features for motorstorm psp:
- new class: sidecars
- races still take place in desert, but now takes place in snow, jungle, ice, urban streets, etc.
- hundred of new vehicles for each class, and most definitely the ones you see on rally races, stadium track races, motocross, etc.
-a wide open track editor.
-physics little reworked,
so now you can flip your vehicle 10 times and see huge deformation of the cars, ragdoll physics for the riders, trillions of combinations to make huge wrecks and pileups.
-dozens of new tracks, approx, 185!
-race types: rally, hill climbs, rallycross, stadium races, wide open courses [like in the first motorstorm],
-and of course, the rider and vehicle customization,
place vinyls and decals anywhere you like, [like in forza motorsport] body upgrades! tires, body kits,
lights, armor for roll cage vehicles, that would be cool stuff!
-new soundtrack example. rammstein “Du Hast” and many more!
-DOWNLOADABE CONTENT, NEW VEHICLES, TRACKS,new stuff to customize your machine, exhausts, helmets, wheels, body kits and even decals and vinyls,
if you like these features on motorstorm 2 for the ps3
and motorstorm for the playstaton portable [psp] send your comments!

All of those features sound great and, even better, are quite possible. Just be ready for a long wait. But I’d rather wait so they can build it to perfection. However, I doubt it’ll be much different since they say it’s a revamped version of the old engine.. which gets the job done, but leaves a lot unfulfilled. For example, in Halo, Bungee rebuilt their engine for a newer experience. But here’s hoping for a great continuation of one of the PLAYSTATION 3′s killer apps.

needs an instant replay feature too. an in-car view would be nice, and night races.. or selectable “weather”. remember monster trunk madness?

motorstorm was byfar a great game, the only problem with it was no multiplayer offline.That was a big problm to me. motorstorm 2 has to have multiplayer mode offline or im not even sure if i will buy, but i am sure it will be a good game either way.
