Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword DS demo by Tomonobu Itagaki

Ninja Gaiden Sigma for PS3 will be released on July 3Tecmo’s Night Out ‘07 event yesterday had some Ninja Gaiden news too. Ninja Gaiden Sigma for PS3 was reported as being finished and Team Ninja boss Tomonobu Itagaki came on stage to give a demonstration of Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword for DS that’s set for release in Fall 2007.

Mr. Itagaki explained “the visuals are composed of 3D character, enemy, and monster models set against lavishly illustrated 2D pre-rendered backgrounds that are less rendered than they are painted. This helps [Ryu Hayabusa and] the characters mesh with the environments in a more organic fashion and makes the game look beautiful.” Cutscenes are shown in moving storybook style, like the Metal Gear Solid Digital Graphic Novels, with some static scenes mixed in with animated sequences.

This Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword demo shows the stylus controls on the book-held DS screen, the action game’s puzzle elements, and a boss fight. A translator explains the on-screen action game in further detail.
