Spore release date delayed until between April 2008 and end 2009

In a conference call to discuss Electronic Arts’ financial results, they said that Will Wright’s highly anticipated evolution sim, Spore, is no longer in the company’s plans for the current fiscal year, which ends in March 2008. Most in the industry had expected the game to be released later in 2007, perhaps in time for the holiday shopping season. But it won’t be in 2007, at the earliest Spore will be released in April 2008, but EA has said the game could be delayed until the fiscal year 2009 that starts in April 2009! Recently Spore has received a final release date of September 7th, 2008, on PC, Mac and DS.

The game probably needs to evolve a little more.

Angeleyes, I wouldn’t reserve it yet if I were you. Just wait it out, right now I think the game will be released at the end of 2008.

People, people calm down!!!

Dont listen to any of this and start making up nightmares about a another delay, after all they are now in the final stages of playtesting, their not going to delay it just to get more time to playtest it.

I only just found out about this game believe it or not, and oh man it looks amazing. I used to love the first Populous game as a kid, then Powermonger. Also love the Civilisation series and always been a fan of Galactic empire type games….basically this game is all of those rolled into one, and im salivating at the prospect and it aint pretty. Still id rather wait til 2009 to get a polished game than a half-assed rush-job. EA have the money im sure to wait til the game is finished before releasing it…still….its gonna be a long wait.

I found out about the game in 06 and man it looks amazing! But like Willybach said, id rather have it perfect then rushed.

Wow you guys are all sad. I’ve never heard so much anger being displayed on a screen since septemeber 11 and just over a game. I mean shouldn’t you guys be working or doing something constructive instead of just sitting around on your asses moaning over a game.

People are dying evey second and all you lot can do is moan and whine over a game’s release date. Is this what humanity has ended up to become? Instead of us all helping eachother all you lot can do is sit around being bums.
You all should get jobs or just wait until it comes out, and focus your anger to those terrorist bastards that want to enslave us all instead of showing anger to eachother. .

Hah, how’d I know so moron like Reaper would step up and spout some 9/11 BS? Someone was bound to do it eventually, and turn a simple discussion about games into politics and the survival of our country, hahaha.

Anywho, I’ve been waiting for Spore to finally be givin atleast a solid release date for a long time now, which is totally rediculous. The thing that bothers me, is the longer it takes thease guys to develop the game, the higher the price is surely to end up being. Think about it, instead of having a year or two developing a game and charging 40$/unit, they’re taking like 8-9, and if everyone in the world dosen’t buy a copy, they’d be losing money bad unless they raised the price to like 90-100 each, or put in a monthly subscription charge to get updates and evolutions.

I can understand wanting to polish the game, but christ, the demos, THEY LOOKED DONE YEARS AGO. What could they possiably be working on now, after the game looked to already be done? (How much yall wanna bet it’s not even real, hahahaha)
