Spore release date delayed until between April 2008 and end 2009

In a conference call to discuss Electronic Arts’ financial results, they said that Will Wright’s highly anticipated evolution sim, Spore, is no longer in the company’s plans for the current fiscal year, which ends in March 2008. Most in the industry had expected the game to be released later in 2007, perhaps in time for the holiday shopping season. But it won’t be in 2007, at the earliest Spore will be released in April 2008, but EA has said the game could be delayed until the fiscal year 2009 that starts in April 2009! Recently Spore has received a final release date of September 7th, 2008, on PC, Mac and DS.

The game probably needs to evolve a little more.

It couldnt be true. You can get your reserved copy at any gamestore. They said it would be out near 07 around after July.

i will be 54 in september 25. ive been waiting for spore for 2 years. by the time it gets released i will probably have aulzaimers and parkinsons desease. so i wouldn’t give a f*ck if it get released for free.

Based upon what I’ve seen and heard, here’s my guess:

The creature portion of the game will be released March 3rd, 2008.
The full game will be released 4 weeks after (March 31st, 2008).

However, if delayed which seems likely, sometime in mid-June.

NOTE: I’ve been waiting before the first spore movie of 06 was released.

Gamers just need to be patient. The massive delay is for the same purpose of the delay of Super Smash Bros. Brawl: the greatest game of its genre is in development, and a few extra months of development are being taken to ensure that it lives up to its previews and the hype. Keep in mind that Will Wright and the staff of Maxis are only human; they are trying the best that they can. I too was upset that this happened, but I’m just going to have to deal with it, aren’t I?

This may be a foolish question- but considering the projected date of release, is there anywhere I can reserve a copy of this game safely? The only video games I’ve ever really played were the sims and the sims two and I am completly unaware of any secure channels to reserve a copy. I might actually like this game if only in the capacity that I can create a truly vicious, intelligent, beautiful and deadly creature just to see what else the game can throw at me. And yes, I’m aware that I cannot actually conquer the food chain, but i can sure as hell try.
