Gundam MS Front 0079 Wii controller gameplay demo

Gundam MS Front 0079 was recently announced by Namco Bandai Japan for the Wii. While it’s still early in development and a release in English still unconfirmed, we still wanted to take a look at the Wii controller gameplay demo that Gametrailers found. The shooting seems okay, but the real meat in this Gundam FPS game will of course be in how to execute the signature Gundam laser sword for close combat!

Too bad they used a cardboard hand or whatever that was to show movements in an already low-resolution video. But it’s still too early to judge, so if anything, with the Wiimote controls it’ll be more fun than that terrible PS3 game Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire.

You make use of both the Wiimote and nuchuck controllers for combat. The Wiimote is used to directly aim at enemies before firing. You move your mech around via the nunchuck’s analogue pad. The game also offers up dash and jump moves, the ability to lock yourself into direct combat with foes, and motion-based melee controls.

For Japanese Wii gamers this is actually the second Gundam Wii game, after 2006′s fan-service SD Gundam G Breaker/Scad Hammers (SD Gundam video), takes a more serious route to bring Gundam onto the Wii, offering a first-person shooter with realistic looking and proportioned Gundam units.
