Call of Duty 5 or 6: Future Warfare in development?

After Activision’s Call of Duty series will make the jump from WWII scenarios to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in late 2007, you have to wonder what lies ahead. Call of Duty 5: Future Warfare should be the next logical step in the FPS series!

From stopping the Nazis from taking over in World War II, to tackling terrorists around the globe in the 21st century, to fighting futuristic human factions on a barren planet Earth or alien interplanetary battles in the 22nd century?!

It’s only a rumor at this point, but chances of Infinity Ward following the track of DICE’s Battlefield franchise are very high. By the time this comes out the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 should have a big enough userbase to get a version of the game outside of the PC release. — Via GameSpot

June 16th 2008 UPDATE: Call of Duty 5: World at War was confirmed as the official title of the next COD game in WWII. Hopefully Call of Duty 6 will be Future Warfare.

Well, the COD series aren’t the most realistic games ever, but I was impressed with Modern Warfare…

I think a “Future Warfare” would suck… Modern weapons are REAL, and people know and respect them, and love using their favorites. Slapping a bunch of imaginary BS into a shooter is overrated, and overdone. It’s just too easy to mess up.

There are MANY possibilities for modern warfare, and I look forward to seeing alot more come out of this… Futuristic crap is too open to interpretation, and it’s hard to keep everyone happy. If you stick to existing weapons, there’s no arguing.

PLEASE don’t ruin a good series… I’d like to see some semi-real life SAS operations in the jungles of Colombia! Gritty night raids on drug labs… Ahhh…

I think cod is moving to fast! It jumped from WWII to the Modern day….what about Vietnam?!?! Or the korien war!?!?! lol I know….Call of Duty 4 the AWESOME!!! but i think they need to slow down a lil. Good work on putting the ranks in cod4 btw…just make it a lil harder to get rank….then it would be PERFECT!

I’v been playing the call of duty games for 2 years now and i think the WWII games r the best ones.cod 4 is ausome but i think they should go back to WWll.i’m pissed that treyarch is makind cod 5 cus cod 3 sucked.i think activision should make another wwll game exactly like cod 2 but with sick graphics and a little more updated stuff. but if they end up making modern warefare agn have the war in the USA. a vietnam game also sounds cool but please no future warfare we have too many of those games like gears of war halo area 51 resistance so please no future warfare

why would they make a call of duty 5 or even anounce it weeks after Cod 4 has been released, I just beleive it would be another “Modern” shooter, I dont believe they would make a Halo Clone, and if they did, I would not buy their game aswell as many other people.

Call of Duty 4 rocks just add onto it make new missions and add more weapons like the gatlin gun to use in the live mode..and be able to make your own look…

yo if they make another call of duty that has 2 do with wwII or future warfare ill be pissed–i like shootin islamic terrioist more than anythin and thats what cod4 had–but in the next call of duty (if they make one) they better not make the american player u play has die perminantly–and they should have the american capture or kill the main terroist

why make a modern war games they are stuped i like the call of duty1-3 cause they where WWII games there are to manny modern war games now stick with the WWII games have like the war in the pacific for COD 6 then make COD WWI there hasent been a world war I games try make a WWI game i would buy it but i wont buy the modern or future war games who would?
