Call of Duty 5 or 6: Future Warfare in development?

After Activision’s Call of Duty series will make the jump from WWII scenarios to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in late 2007, you have to wonder what lies ahead. Call of Duty 5: Future Warfare should be the next logical step in the FPS series!

From stopping the Nazis from taking over in World War II, to tackling terrorists around the globe in the 21st century, to fighting futuristic human factions on a barren planet Earth or alien interplanetary battles in the 22nd century?!

It’s only a rumor at this point, but chances of Infinity Ward following the track of DICE’s Battlefield franchise are very high. By the time this comes out the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 should have a big enough userbase to get a version of the game outside of the PC release. — Via GameSpot

June 16th 2008 UPDATE: Call of Duty 5: World at War was confirmed as the official title of the next COD game in WWII. Hopefully Call of Duty 6 will be Future Warfare.

Actually, I am a gaming developer for Activision/Infinity Ward, and the FPS Call Of Duty 5 takes place during the second world war, but not against Germans, but the Japanese. That is all I will say for now.

okay now tht we know there is a cod5 i am excited 4 it but im not 2 happy bout how we r going 2 lose all of the cool guns nd switch back 2 the old 1s i think the should just remake modern warfare and make us the iraques and we use theyre fire arms and weapons and we should be able 2 customise our own guns more and another thin is that thereshould be more scopes in the game

I hope that they offer more challenges and free for all events. It will seriously suck if we have to use old guns. That makes no sense to me…I’ll be playing it the day it comes out on a 6 ft projecting screen~baller!

i think that cod 6 should be based on the future but not on another planet it should be like gears of war but better like earth gets invaded and you have to fight to save it sumthin like that CHEA !!!!!!!!!!

I think it should be a excessive nuclear war and its a bit like terminator dawn of fate except your fighting elite terrorists, hostile nations, and maybe mutants!

i think if they just go back to the revutionly war would be pretty fun becaue you would just be riding boats to other palces. any ways cod5 think is the best game of the year it beats gears of war.

I’m hearing alot of different things when it comes to the titles. Apparantly, COD world at war isn’t COD 5, and the actual COD5 is the future warfare. I’m pretty confused on what’s true or not. What i do know for sure, is there WILL be a new game.

iDuck: It’s even more confusing than that. Apparently the next game in the series, that’s coming this year, is being called Call of Duty: Future Warfare 2! Maybe it’s called COD6: FW2… ok now my head hurts! With any luck they’ll change the title to clear this mess up by the time it comes out.
