Call of Duty 5 or 6: Future Warfare in development?

After Activision’s Call of Duty series will make the jump from WWII scenarios to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in late 2007, you have to wonder what lies ahead. Call of Duty 5: Future Warfare should be the next logical step in the FPS series!

From stopping the Nazis from taking over in World War II, to tackling terrorists around the globe in the 21st century, to fighting futuristic human factions on a barren planet Earth or alien interplanetary battles in the 22nd century?!

It’s only a rumor at this point, but chances of Infinity Ward following the track of DICE’s Battlefield franchise are very high. By the time this comes out the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 should have a big enough userbase to get a version of the game outside of the PC release. — Via GameSpot

June 16th 2008 UPDATE: Call of Duty 5: World at War was confirmed as the official title of the next COD game in WWII. Hopefully Call of Duty 6 will be Future Warfare.

I am 42 and have played video games all my life…..and Modern Warfare is the best of them all. Realism is extreme for video games to say the least (XBOX360). Extreme chaos….I can’t put it down. Too short though. Complaint: too short on missions. Next step for Activision: Perhaps Vietnam? Or have a collection of small operations: Grenade (82?), Panama, Somalia (black hawk down). Regarding future war stuff….sorry….play Halo for that guys.

Yeah.. i believe a FUTURE warfare will be MUCH more better than WW2! Anyways, i dont have a PS3 or Xbox 360. will they release it on PS2?

It would be rubbish if it went back to ww2 but future or current affairs would be absolutely mint. The Iraq one would be good. COD 4 is absolutely mint so activision cant really go back in time can they?

why not do some world war or some thing like that cause really its gonna be stupid cause your gonna have all these guns nobody ever heard of and all these random level that every body will hate

I see that COD 5 is to be released but it doesn’t say if it will be for PC’s or not. You made extra games for the Xbox and PS2’s that we PC’s didn’t get. Just remember where gaming all began…with PC’s
