Super Mario Bros. NES speedrun in 5 minutes
A speedrun is a play-through of a computer or video game, created with the intent of completing it as quickly as possible. This was an attempt to get the fastest run humanly possible in this NES game speedrun of Super Mario Bros. He abuses every in-game bug and glitch, like the warp glitch in level 4-2 and the wall jump bug in level 8-4. He avoids piranha plants and flying axes by exploiting the game’s bad hit detection. Also, when you see him slow down near the end of a level it’s only because he wants to avoid timer-activated fireworks.
Here’s the VHS recording of the perfect 5 minute time:
In 2002 the SMB record was between 5-6 minutes and this February someone beat it in 9.5 minutes… with his feet. Playing with the Super Mario Brothers seemingly never gets old.
