The Godfather: Blackhand Edition review video (Wii)
The Godfather: Blackhand Edition gives an enhanced combat experience with motion-based Blackhand Control by integrating Nintendo’s innovative Wii controller. Take over the Big Apple in this fully interactive open-world games based on the classic film by Paramount Pictures and the critically-acclaimed book by Mario Puzo. The game offer brand new ways to go from Soldier to Don as you gain control of the streets of New York. Follow the path of an Enforcer or Operator; each with its own unique perks and abilities to earn.
Now you can chat up specific characters to get the skinny on dirty cops, take down two additional revised compounds of rival Families, execute five new contract hits, and call in larger Corleone Hit Squads when the going gets tough. For improved, hyper-intuitive Blackhand Control in The Godfather Blackhand Edition, use gestures with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to really beat down your opposition, or point directly at the screen using the Wii Remote for pinpoint firearm accuracy.
Is this port worthy of our respect or will it end up sleeping with the fishes? Find out in this The Godfather: Blackhand Edition video review.
To quote the video review: “The big question with any Wii title is how do the unique motion-sensitive controls fit the game? In this case they actually fit pretty well. There’s definitely an adjustment period, but once you get the hang of things the punching and precision targeting work just as good as they would with a standard controller. As a bonus, it does feel brutal tossing a guy across a room by jerking around the Wiimote or performing one of the game’s many up-close “executions”, even if the control method isn’t quite a perfect fit with a traditional third-person action game.
The Godfather: Blackhand Edition is a good port of a pretty good game, which controls very decently with the Wii controller. That’s not quite a glowing recommendation, but this game does deserve some respect. If you’re looking for a traditional action game on the Wii, or have a Grand Theft Auto itch that needs to be scratched, the Godfather just might be able to help you out.”
