Star Wars Battlefront III coming as an Xbox 360 exclusive from the creators of GoldenEye

The March issue of UK magazine PlayStation World (PSW) made a surprising announcement in the middle of their Star Wars retrospective feature. On page 65, PSW states that Free Radical Design (the creators GoldenEye and TimeSplitters) is developing the next/third iteration of Star Wars Battlefront.

To quote the magazine: “Star Wars Battlefront III is also currently in development, with LucasArts having switched coders from Pandemic Studios – who made Battlefront I and Battlefront II – to Free Radical… Star Wars Battlefront III is listed as an Xbox 360 exclusive, but expect a full PSW review to before the end of the year.”

The magazine doesn’t think it will stay Xbox 360 exclusive and will come to PS3 later in 2007, which makes sense since Star Wars Battlefront II appeared on PC, Xbox, PS2 & PSP back in 2005. While LucasArts hasnâ€™t made an official announcement yet, we thought this was too good to pass up on. Let’s hope we’ll hear/see more about the online multiplayer shooter soon.

I would like to reply to kit fisto 278 whom made a post about taking a survey in his neighborhood. His statements are quite wrong.

Just because his little nieborhood doesn’t have a PS3 doesn’t mean most people have it in the world.

In Japan, almost no one has a 360 because they want to support Sony (a Japanese company if you didn’t know). There are plenty of people who have PS3 now that sony has brought the price down.

BATTLE front 3 Better come out on the ps3….i still play bf2!!! on ps2..infact i played it yesterday..got my ass kicked..all tho in one lvl i just liked every one with a storm trooper just ran up to them and shot them it was the funest oneline i ever had :} and i plan to play it again today every one should go on it ;D its fun when theres alot of ppl on so heres an idea any one with a ps2 go on bf2 ;D!!!!!

ummm…PS3 is better…the 360 is good but the PS3 is wayyyyy better because on blu-ray the developers don’t have to hold back on their games because it has more disk space than the 360. Oh and BF3 will NOT be the best Star Wars game The Force Unleashed should be the best game..(coming out for all systems). BF3 should come out for both 360 (although it will suck on the 360) and PS3 and maybe for the wii…I just hope the saber combat does not suck like it did in all the other BF games (Star Wars Episode 3 game rulz!!! ).

I have a PS3 and 360 and played alot of games on each. Sorry to break it to ya but the 360 is a little better. No difference in graphics.

And no, bluray does not equal more graphics lol. Maybe more content, hd cutscenes, all that but thats about it. The hardware on both systems evens out abit in the end with the ps3 having abit more power but horrible hurdles in coding.

Anyways no I think bf3 should be for ps3 xbox360 and pc. If its what theyre moving towards with next gen graphics the ps2 cant handle it without the game being severly watered down. Should especially be released for pc due to modding and mapmaking.

Btw im not a fanboy of either. Im a pc gamer and bought both consoles recently. Before I got heavy into pc gaming and built my gaming rig I was a sony fanboy and owned a ps1 and 2.

Never owned an xbox but had a friend that did. Seemed like an ok console to me

i loved both the battlefront games and i bet this game will be another great sequal.hopefully they can manage to make the battles more larger like say 32 v 32 online.

liljdawgg: Since the developer isn’t talking about it yet, it could either be out in time for this Christmas or delayed to next year. There’s no telling really.
