Star Wars Battlefront III coming as an Xbox 360 exclusive from the creators of GoldenEye

The March issue of UK magazine PlayStation World (PSW) made a surprising announcement in the middle of their Star Wars retrospective feature. On page 65, PSW states that Free Radical Design (the creators GoldenEye and TimeSplitters) is developing the next/third iteration of Star Wars Battlefront.

To quote the magazine: “Star Wars Battlefront III is also currently in development, with LucasArts having switched coders from Pandemic Studios - who made Battlefront I and Battlefront II - to Free Radical… Star Wars Battlefront III is listed as an Xbox 360 exclusive, but expect a full PSW review to before the end of the year.”

The magazine doesn’t think it will stay Xbox 360 exclusive and will come to PS3 later in 2007, which makes sense since Star Wars Battlefront II appeared on PC, Xbox, PS2 & PSP back in 2005. While LucasArts hasn’t made an official announcement yet, we thought this was too good to pass up on. Let’s hope we’ll hear/see more about the online multiplayer shooter soon.

Star Wars 3!!!!
They should expand the levels and addin the battles between Star Wars movies II and III.
It would be cool if you could control the huge laser cannons on the Capital Ships, even cooler if you could actually fly them!

i agree with bboy. all the people who own ps2s are going to be really ripped off cus they arent rich so they cant get these frikin $500 systems!!!! they need to have a bf3 for ps2!!!!!

why make a game exclusive to an inferior console? the ps3 is far more advanced than the Xbox. it wont last as an exclusive.

OK, a few comments here.

1. We are in a new generation of gaming systems now. It makes business sense to make a game for a next-gen system such as 360 (as opposed to spending budget creating a port for PS2). The 360 has a base of 6 million gamers already, so it makes sense for them to cater to a growing market. When more users are available on the other two systems, they’ll port it over I’m sure.

2. Holy crap people, seriously, some of you really need to learn how to type. Some of these posts (only a few of them) are littered with just blatant disregard for the English language. And don’t try to claim “1337″ on me, that’s a cop-out for people who don’t know how to spell properly. I can’t even read the post by mohit, I shouldn’t have to think about what someone is actually trying to say when reading something, I should just be able to read it. STAY IN SCHOOL!

Xbox and PS2 are dead systems. Hell the 360 has been out for 1.5 years. Time to upgrade boys!

I loved it when you could play jedi and sith lords in star wars battlefront 2 I would also love it if you if you could play jedi and sith lords in a space battle thank you for looking.

Hello…Honestly, I think that Star Wars Battlefront III should also be for the Playstation 2. I do not think that the game should ONLY be for the newest systems such as the Xbox 360 or the Playstation III. Star Wars Battlefront I and Star Wars Battlefront II have been on the Playstation II, so why shouldn’t Star Wars Battlefront III be on the Playstation II like the others? All I am saying is that if Star Wars Battlefront III could come out for the Playstation II, it would make many, including me, satisfied and happy. And even if it does come out for the Playstation II, I do not see what harm comes from it.

Well Battlefront III might be really high-tech, so PS2 maybe can’t handle something so big. I dunno that’s just an idea, considering the fact that PS2 is almost 8 years old!

Awesome! I hope that it isn’t exclusive to the 360. Well at least get a PC port. Although I own an Xbox 360, I have both Battlefront I and II on the PC. And having it on console would be kinda dumb. Not to mention all the mapping and modding that can be done on the PC can’t be done for the 360.
