List of confirmed major eSports events in 2007

Here’s a look at the upcoming major eSports events in 2007, only the confirmed ones are listed below. For the unconfirmed events check out Gamingjunky. Thanks to Diego for the tip. The overview:

1. The ASUS Winter Cup for this year in Moscow, Russia, will sport a total prize fund of over $25,000 and feature Counter-Strike 1.6 and Warcraft 3 tournaments. Quake will return at the ASUS Spring Cup.

2. At the Extreme Masters at CEBit in Hannover, Germany, from March 15-18 the top eight qualified European teams and players will fight for €160,000 ($205,000) in prize money, sponsored by Intel. It features WC3 and CS 1.6.

3. The DirecTV Championship Gaming Series. Games included are Counter-Strike: Source, Project Gotham Racing and Dead or Alive 4. After the event qualifiers in March, the North America Regional Tournament will be held in May, and a player draft.

4. The Major League Gaming Boost Mobile Pro Circuit will kick off in Charlotte, North Carolina USA, in mid-April. The circuit will feature Halo 2 with both FFA and 4v4 formats for this year’s events. The next event will be held June 8-10 at the Meadowlands, New Jersey USA.

5. From June 16-19, Dreamhack Summer in Sweden will attempt another world record by using yet another hall for their monstrous LAN. Expect to see Quake 4 and Counter-Strike 1.6.

6. The Electronic Sports World Cup Finals will be held July 5-8 in Paris, France. National selections run from January to June. The preliminaries will involve more than 500,000 gamers worldwide in Counter-Strike (including CS: Women), Quake, Pro Evolution Soccer, and Trackmania Nations. This is the most prestigious events in all of eSports.

7. The MLG Boost Mobile Pro Circuit takes place in Dallas, USA, two weeks after ESWC. It’s at the same venue as QuakeCon.

8. QuakeCon is being held by id Software on August 2-5. The exhibit area will be five times larger than 2006, with 2,700 BYOC spots for one huge party.

9. PC event Cyberathelete Professional League Australia is held October 12-14 at the Sydney Olympic Park. Games featured at CPL Australia will be Counter-Strike: 1.6, Quake 3 and Warcraft 3.

10. On October 16 the World Cyber Games finals will be held in Seattle, Washington USA. Not too many specifics have been announced yet.

11. For the conclusion of the MLG Boost Mobile Pro Circuit no dates or a venue has been announced. The playoffs will be held sometime in October, with the grand finals in November. Last year’s grand finals saw $234,000 of prize money, with more expected this year.
