Prince of Persia movie set to be Disney’s next blockbuster franchise starting summer 2008 (moved to 2010)

This May the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie sees Captain Barbossa, Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann make their final alliances for one last decisive battle. So what’s next for Disney?

According to Disney blogger Jim Hill The Walt Disney Company has gone franchise-crazy lately, with sequels being prepped and/or considered for virtually every project the studio currently has in its production pipeline. To quote:

“This is why Walt Disney Pictures — in conjunction with Jerry Bruckheimer Films — is now gearing up to put a “Prince of Persia” movie into production. Because it’s thought that a film based on this hugely popular series of Ubisoft Entertainment games (Which — in theory — will be Disney’s big action-adventure release for the Summer of 2008) could then lead to a new hit series of movies for the studio.” [The movie has since been moved to Summer 2010.]

The first blockbuster movie will likely be based on the excellent video game Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, which follows an adventurous prince who teams up with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world. — One big question is which actors will play the prince and princess? Another big question is asked by 1up, and it’s if like back in 2004, the original Prince of Persia game designer Jordan Mechner will still be writing the script?

Im sure this movie is gonna suck if disney make it a childrens movie. They should make it for guys that are 14 and above I mean children shouldn’t see women in stripper like clothes and disney shouldn’t remove that in the story

Kelly Hu should play farah, and Maybe Karl Urban or sombody like that should play the Prince. I LOVE those Prince of Persia games, and would KILL to have a DECENT MOVIE MADE!!!!

im soooooooooo excited about the new POP movie! i jus hope they do a good job of it and not screw up the storyline. if its as good as the games it’ll be the best movie. i think it would be a good idea for the movie to be animated instead of having people to play the parts.

I think johan ibrahim will be the best for prince of persia…. cuz his persian… and he looks like him… soo I’ll be happy if they pick him…. his going to be perfect for this movie…

ow yes!!! pop the movie. It will ROCK as long as they use good acrbatics and stay true to the story. me and steph love pop and were well happy

ommgg THEY HAVE TO PICK A PERSIAN FOR THE PRINCE..i mean comon’ they can’t just pick a non persian……IT WON’T SET THE MOOD!!!
they should pick a hot persian actor with colored eyes and BAM you got him
as for the chick i think she should be of a persian/indian descent…….cuz farah is a persian name but the girl is the princess of india…w.e.
