Prince of Persia movie set to be Disney’s next blockbuster franchise starting summer 2008 (moved to 2010)

This May the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie sees Captain Barbossa, Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann make their final alliances for one last decisive battle. So what’s next for Disney?

According to Disney blogger Jim Hill The Walt Disney Company has gone franchise-crazy lately, with sequels being prepped and/or considered for virtually every project the studio currently has in its production pipeline. To quote:

“This is why Walt Disney Pictures — in conjunction with Jerry Bruckheimer Films — is now gearing up to put a “Prince of Persia” movie into production. Because it’s thought that a film based on this hugely popular series of Ubisoft Entertainment games (Which — in theory — will be Disney’s big action-adventure release for the Summer of 2008) could then lead to a new hit series of movies for the studio.” [The movie has since been moved to Summer 2010.]

The first blockbuster movie will likely be based on the excellent video game Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, which follows an adventurous prince who teams up with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world. — One big question is which actors will play the prince and princess? Another big question is asked by 1up, and it’s if like back in 2004, the original Prince of Persia game designer Jordan Mechner will still be writing the script?

Prince of persia (especially warrior within) is the best best & best game i hav ever played. When i played this game i dream that someone will make a movie for this game, otherwise one day i will do that. hah ha ha…I hope the movie will be good…thanks to disney for this…

They should definitley pick someone of persian decent.. I always thought of John Abraham to be the perfect actor if they ever made a prince of persia movie..

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! what are they thinking disney making the pop movie thats horible.ok maybe they could get away with sands of time being a good movie but what about 2 and 3,i highly doubt that disney is going to make a movie with cool hyper violent fighting and chicks in thongs(shadee) im really diapionted!!!:(

that would be the best movie ever!!!! but you would have to make it at least 14A because it’s not a G rated game. and that’s why i love it. oh man you got me so happy now!
Brad Pitt or Hugh jackman as the prince! all the way.
and Kelly Hu as Farah.

wow! what better team then
jerry bruckheimer and micheal
bay. My son and i have played
this game so often and always
said it would make a great movie. In discussions we always said that oded fehr would make a great prince of persia. But i saw the actor that was chosen and i hope that he will be up to the challenge of such a story.
We can’t wait for it to be in theaters in 2008. It’s going to be superb i’m sure
filled with excellent action sequence and great effects.

So Disney is making a movie based on Prince Of Persia game with michael Bay and Jerry Bruckhiemer to produce the film.
The film will start in production in 2008.
