Sega changes focus from PSP to DS
In an interview with Nikkei Shimbun, Sega managing director Hideki Okamura says the company is shifting its focus from PSP to Nintendo DS.
Here’s a quote where he mentions the challenges of making games on DS: “We have to do a lot of thinking about titles for Nintendo’s hardware, because Nintendo’s own titles are extremely strong. It really is difficult to sell a title as a third party. What that means is that we’ve got to go after it with force: ‘heave-ho!’”
He also points out that there is a new game they will release this year that will “surprise absolutely everyone.” Via Wired

In Japan Sega really got the hang of DS with their card-based arcade game for girls, Love and Berry, selling over 1.5 million! Hopefully Sega will not just be releasing casual games, but reviving classic franchises as well. After all, this year the PSP is getting new After Burner, Full Auto 2, Virtua Tennis 3, Alien Syndrome, Crazy Taxi revivals and a unique 2D/3D puzzler Crush. What do you want to see on DS?
