The Elder Scrolls V possibly a Massively Multiplayer Online Game

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (DVD-ROM)The creators of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Bethesda Softworks, only focus their studio on one game at a time. Next up for them is Fallout 3. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t talking about a sequel to Oblivion. Bethesda Softworks’ VP of PR and marketing Pete Hines told 1up the following about the years-away Elder Scrolls V:

“Well, I can tell you that since Oblivion has been such a smashing success that I’m sure we will do [Elder Scrolls V], but there are no immediate plans right now,” said Hines. As for what form Elder Scrolls V would take, that’s still up in the air. A Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG) seems a natural, evolutionary step for the series, but while Hines doesn’t suggest that’s a direction for Elder Scrolls V, the possibility of a new game has been bounced around. He doubts, however, they would go forward unless they had a “fresh idea” for the genre.

thad be really really sweet if it was 2-4 player split screen co-op

ES5 need to be MULTIPLAYER… but I don’t wanna see it as another MMO. In Multiplayer mode you could do as much as ES3/4 and become super powerfull… where in a MMO you wont, simply because an MMO need balance and more control… so I just wish for a multiplayer version to play with my friends, doing the quests and killing somes GIANT MONSTERS! lol Pls Mix this up with something like Colossius for big bosses lol

k so everyone is debating about the game going on like not online mass, or single player, why not just have the single player with better stuff that relate to real life, like having kids and when the kids grow up you use them, but like…just put pvp enabled online…why not that? make a pvp thats able to be played online SEPERATE from your single player character…sort of like guild wars no? except single player isnt online, when you go online, seperate person that you made, you earn money and skill through achievment in battle like call of duty 4…get it? i think everyone could agree to that.

 i agree with nonerd about online and ofline being 2 totality different charecters like cod 4 as that is 1 thing that made me and my friends bye it.

I like the Idea of split screen but were your on a team and you can go to different buildings and cities than your friend. it would also be cool is the setting was in summetmist isle. And as for online play, The consept would be busted as there would never be any enemies to fight because of all the players spawnkilling them.

I, personally, would hate an online mulit-player version. Part of the fun is being in my own private fantasy and I don’t want to interact with anyone else. I think many fans of the Elder Scrolls franchise will be lost if the game shifts it’s audience to an online one.

im ecciting my ass off! online?! multiplayer?! oh my god, if u can play online and multiplayer at the elder scrolls V it will the the best game ever! (and if u can ride :p)

I definitley disagree with the idea aswell. There are already too many games turning into MMOs, and one of the reasons I play this game is beause it hasn’t turned into an MMO. In my opinion the variety of non MMO RPG games is dwindling, which will lead to an increase in sales for Bethesda, because almost all players looking for a non MMORPG will likely turn to elder scrolls. Besides, if they turn it into MMO, they will lose a lot of their base fans, and it is hard to get people started on a new MMO, since there is already so many others out there. In my opinion, it would be better for bethesda, and the fans of the Elder Scrolls series, if it didn’t become an MMORPG. Perhaps they could do as others have suggested, and be able to play with people online, but only a small number of people, such as 4 or so.

I think TES MMORPG would be the greatest game ever but thay have to make it a game for hardcore roleplayers.

They need to enforce roleplay, Make it Rated M at least, no stupid quests.
Just explore the world… ally yourself with other players or struggle with them … compete with each other for that guild spot

Game masters to start some plot and use NPC’s to stat events…
You are not supposed to kill the big moster that is terrorizing a village twice.
a player (or a bunch of players) kills it once and for all…

Not an easy task but it can be done…

Why the world of elder scrolls must be so peaceful? Can’t cities be at war with each other? It would be nice to experience battles like castle sieges or to penetrate like a spy in the enemy territory and assassinate someone.
