The Elder Scrolls V possibly a Massively Multiplayer Online Game

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (DVD-ROM)The creators of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Bethesda Softworks, only focus their studio on one game at a time. Next up for them is Fallout 3. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t talking about a sequel to Oblivion. Bethesda Softworks’ VP of PR and marketing Pete Hines told 1up the following about the years-away Elder Scrolls V:

“Well, I can tell you that since Oblivion has been such a smashing success that I’m sure we will do [Elder Scrolls V], but there are no immediate plans right now,” said Hines. As for what form Elder Scrolls V would take, that’s still up in the air. A Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG) seems a natural, evolutionary step for the series, but while Hines doesn’t suggest that’s a direction for Elder Scrolls V, the possibility of a new game has been bounced around. He doubts, however, they would go forward unless they had a “fresh idea” for the genre.

A co-op TES would be kick ASS!!!! i was hoping there would be an update for IV that would give you that option but was disapointed when i never saw anything about it

the game should stay the way it has been from the start to make the new game a massive online game would do the game no justice i think that the game would loose a great number of its fans to the massive change the the game originality

 they would loose a great number of its fans to the massive change to the games originality

it is true that it would lose fans from the change in game play but thats if it whent big just limit the online play to 1-4 players it is a good idea yes but then it still would mess with the game yet u could have it like diablo for the pc have it where u can have an online an offline charcter but if in the end online play is not possibull then at least make a 5th elder scroll

PS.sorry my spelling is verey bad

i will flip a b*tch if it doesnt have multiplayer of some kind. i mean id love to have it online, not like a world of warcraft thing but like crackdown where u and another player could play CO-OP, that would make a lot more people buy it because it is an extremely social world and games that dont have the online multiplayer get beat and never played again. so go for online CO-OP but if anything have some kind of multiplayer. and that would become one of the best games of all time, it would really make bethesda a very popular organization and people would buy their games just because they made it, they could become a bungie, if u do that i could see this game being more popular than halo 3! so thats my advice

i dont think it should go MMO like world of warcraft because it would lose its unique style, but i agree with a possible system link co-op. maybe they could work in some extra quests and/or an additional storyline, make it really hard and completely based around teamwork with more challenging puzzles and larger battles.

i really loved all the elder scrolls and i could care less wether it is multiplayer or not but i hope it is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay longer than oblivion. whoever is in charge of it i hope its long! and i agree with karne if it was mmo it would’nt be the same.

i liked all the elder scrolls and i think they are better than halo. but i think it wouldnt be as good with mmo and karne is right itd be better with more puzzles and longer battles and with more difficulty and if it was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay longer than oblivion was.

They could make a patch with LIMITED multiplayer.. say a small island for co-op quests and / or make the ARENA multiplayer. That way the majority of the game still feels the same. If they made some NPC’s that could be hired and interact with you better that would be great also. Again.. only an option for those that would want it. Imagine being able to pick up a cleric or ranger, have the difficulty ramp up for a 2 person party, and have the “company ” feeling of you and a very interactive NPC buddy exploring Elder Scrolls 4, 5, 6 etc etc

well, i think that yes a fresh idea is needed for the next Elder Scrolls, but making it an MMORPG game is going a bit far… i think a variation is needed, like if we look at assasins creed… there is a great variation in crouds… they never follow the same patern… I think there must be a fixt story line, but let the choises you make influince the missions you do, in that way, you will never get board wiht the game… thats what I think
