Many were saddened last year with the October 2006 news that Capcom was closing their Clover Studios due to lack of sales. But games like Viewtiful Joe, Okami and God Hand definitely found their audience, so the developers in the studio set out to start anew.
The new studio is called Seeds. With a staff of 51 including Shinji Mikami (Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe), Atsushi Inaba (Resident Evil: Code Veronica, Phoenix Wright 2: Ace Attorney), Hideki Kamiya (Resident Evil 2, Okami), Nao Ueda (Resident Evil 4, Okami), Yuta Kimura (Shadow of the Colossus, Okami), Mari Shimazaki (Okami) and Masami Ueda (Viewtiful Joe, Viewtiful Joe 2) they just launched their Seeds-inc.jp website and are hiring more developers for new games.
Gamelife translated their introduction: “We are the Seeds that caused the vibrant flowers Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Steel Battalion, Viewtiful Joe, and Okami to come into bloom.
Although we alight upon a different earth, even though the soil is different, our hearts — closely pursuing the dream of “play” — have not changed.
Now, with a renewed spirit, we want to once again challenge the world of entertainment. But to do this, we need many, many more seeds.
So, we are currently searching far and wide for people who want to work alongside us. For people who want to build their future. People who are currently making games elsewhere.
Would you like to make some “preposterously amazing” games with us?”
They don’t have a publisher yet. But let’s all wish they succeed in making preposterously amazing games!
Yes!
This was the Best news I heard this year! Now with Seed coming! I have something nice to look forward to
Something that will be “preposterously amazing”
I knew they just couldn’t go off like that
YES! Now maybe theres a chance of an Okami sequel!
Great news guys but uh, are you sure the link to Seeds Website is correct? It takes me to a site that states other adult dating sites haha.
@Andrew: The website worked fine 2.5 years ago. I’ve removed the link thanks to your tip about it being a adult site nowadays.
Seeds was later renamed to Platinum Games of Mad World, Infinite Space and Bayonetta fame.
