E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial throws away his own Atari 2600 game

Here’s another “Worst Games on the Face of the Earth” video. E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial game from 1982 has to be one of the worst, if not THE worst, game ever made.

It’s so awful in fact, that in the commercial E.T. even throws away his own game! Poor kid thought he got a gift…

I remember this game as a kid, even the TV AD. I don’t remember the game sucking so much though! It did suck!

Believe it or not there were instructions and it is possible, with some luck and “skill” at getting out of the holes, to finish the game and go home. All in all, if you know what to do it takes about 10 minutes to complete, which is nothing by today’s standards but the games that didn’t employ nearly endless loops, i.e. Pac Man, wasn’t bad for the time, *IF* they had replay value. As this one obviously lacked. The waste of $15, in 1981!

Hehe classic comments guys. That reminds me, I need to try and find a playthrough for E.T., now I’m curious if the “game” can really be finished in 10 minutes :)

I think there was a phone in one of those holes. You certainly had to fall in a lot of holes.
