Bethesda hints Fallout 3’s release is not as futuristic as the RPG

Fallout 1 & 2 BundleIn a recent interview with Gamasutra about their Oblivion & Star Trek franchises, Bethesda’s vice president of PR and marketing Pete Hines, was asked about their highly anticipated resurrection of the classic Fallout post-apocalyptic role-playing PC franchise.

On Fallout 3 Mr. Hines commented: “We are a fairly good ways into the process. The team has ramped up, and it will be a little while longer. As is the case with all of our games, especially those of this scope, we don’t really want to talk about them until they are in a state where we can show you, rather than having you simply picturing it in your minds eye.”

He added that: “Fallout is not a quick two year process, and we are already several years into the project.” And here we were thinking at E3 in 2006 Fallout 3 development had just started. It looks like we might be seeing the futuristic RPG sooner than expected. At least it will arrive well before the 2010 release of that Fallout MMORPG.
