Super Paper Mario jumps on Wii this April

The latest issue of Nintendo Power magazine lists the release date for Super Paper Mario as April 2007. This news comes after last September we got confirmation Super Paper Mario would be making the jump from GameCube to Wii.
Mario finds himself in the interdimensional town of flipside as a black hole looms overhead along with floating math equations. You have to use the controller sideways moving the control pad and jumping with the 2 button, old skool Super Mario Bros. style. A button allows you to switch from 2D to 3D. Later in the game you’ll encounter creatures called Pixls that will give Mario new abilities that make an interesting use of the Wii Remote controller. Tippy (a colorful butterfly) allows you to search areas for secrets, you can point the Wii Remote at the screen to spotlight hidden doors or learn info about the enemy. When you jump on an enemy, if you shake the Wii Remote you can gain extra points, akin to the Paper Mario RPG series.
The game has graphical enhancements on Wii from the E3 GameCube build, the issue has new screenshots that also show the Wii platformer running with 16×9 support. Via Codenamerevolution
