Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today announced that PlayStation 3 will be launched, with initially only the 60GB model, in the PAL territories of Europe including the United Kingdom on 23rd March 2007 at a price of £425. See the PAL variable PS3 prices here.
An expected one million PS3 units will be made available during the initial launch period to all SCEE territories. Let’s hope it’s not “expected” like a November 17 European launch expected… zing! Ok so that was old, but it had to be said. Moving on…
SCEE also announced the launch line-up of over 30 game titles for PS3, including eagerly awaited titles published by SCEE such as Resistance: Fall of Man, MotorStorm, Genji: Days of the Blade, Formula One Championship Edition and Ridge Racer 7. Third party publishers will include Electronic Arts, Activision, Namco Bandai, Sega, Take 2, Ubisoft, Vivendi Universal, and Sony Online Entertainment. 28 of these will be listed below.
In addition to games on disc, a range of (9) downloadable games will debut on the PlayStation Network. These will include gaming icons such as Tekken: Dark Resurrection. Gran Turismo HD Concept is the fully-featured PS3 debut of the best-selling franchise Gran Turismo, realised with full HD (1080p) visual quality. Created by Polyphony Digital and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, Gran Turismo HD Concept has been downloaded by more than 350,000 users since it was released in December 2006 in North America and Japan. BECAUSE IT’S FREE, YAY!
Also available on the PlayStation Network will be brainteasers such as Go! Sudoku and Go! Puzzle, and innovative games such as Blast Factor and flOw, as well as Lemmings, Gripshift and Super Rub’a’Dub (whatever that is). Designed exclusively for PlayStation 3 and delivering on the promise to provide original content created by non-traditional developers and publishers.

Concurrent with the European launch, a new System Update to further enhance the entertainment potential of PS3 will be issued. Hopefully that’s today’s Japanese/American 1.5 PS3 update that fixes loads of backwards compatibility issues with (popular) PS2 games. Press release from Sony.
March 20 “delay” update: These retail PS3 games have been delayed until after the European launch: Splinter Cell: Double Agent (March 30), NBA 2K7 (April 6), F.E.A.R. (April 20), Oblivion (April 27), and Untold Legends (April 27). — The following PlayStation Network PS3 games have also been spread out until after the European launch: Super Rub-A-Dub (March 30), flOw (April 6), Go! Sudoku (April 13), Go! Puzzle (April 20). And arriving after that are: Lemmings, Gripshift, Calling All Cars, Q*Bert, and Mortal Kombat II.
The aussie launch is also getting Graw 2
Well I suppose technically you could call it a LAUNCH! line up but really its been around quite a while now.
Well Merc, there are a few new games like Motorstorm and Formula 1. But what I want to know is what the mystery game Super Rub’a’Dub is all about, it sounds special haha. Actually I think it might be that Sony presentation bathtub scene where you control thousands of rubber duckies and those toy warships, etc.
Reeteshinator, do you have a source for that, I can’t find that anywhere and would like to add it.
well. I saw that in a GS new article.. I remember seeing it(and also copied it onto another place..) but when I check the GS archives for that date it is not there now….
maybe it was a mistake and they removed it..
Did a little history searching… GOT IT! http://www.gamespot.com/news/6164485.htm
Dont know if it is a typo or true….
