PC game sales up for 2006
As has been noted previously, video games sales overall for the year of 2006 have broken records all over the place, from the U.S. to Europe to Australia, and while the numbers released for the U.S. earlier accounted for video game console, game and accessory sales, they DID NOT account for PC sales.
So finally the PC numbers for 2006 have been released by the NPD Group, and once again the numbers are positively up. Although not breaking any records. Retail PC sales for the year added up to $970 million less than two percent more than the $953 million it reported for 2005.
However, the US retail PC market still hasn’t made up for all the revenue lost after 2004′s $1.1 billion. Although it should be pointed out that this doesn’t include money generated by subscription fees, micropayments or games distributed digitally.
