Pursuit Force 2: Extreme Justice takes arms to PSP and PS2
Bigbig Studios and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe have announced a sequel to Pursuit Force titled Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice will be coming to PSP & PS2. The new game was given a summer 2007 European release date, with a U.S. release likely at the same time or before.
The game will add multiplayer modes different to each system. The PSP version gets a four-player Wi-Fi mode. The PS2 version gets a two-player split-screen multiplayer mode.
New gameplay features include bigger vehicles to jump between, such as tanks, trains, airplanes, bikes, sidecars, jet skis, helicopters, and hovercrafts. Players will also be able to step outside and take out bad guys on foot.
The player will also be joined this time around by four new recruits in Pursuit Force: Sarah (air support), Gage (high-speed support), Ash (special ops), and Preach (heavy assault). These characters will support and interact with the player, providing assistance and repartee throughout the game.
The first Pursuit Force from 2005 was a PSP-exclusive, where the storyline put the player in the role of a tough cop who joins up to a new elite police unit to restore order to a city overrun with gangs. This elite unit, known as the Pursuit Force, specializes in direct armed encounters with adversaries, whether it be on foot or on the bonnet of a speeding car. The player has to try to seize cars and motorbikes whilst engaging in gun battles at speeds of over 150mph. It is set in fictional Capital State (which includes Capital City) in America where there are various criminal gangs to contend with.
In the sequel, two new gangs are turning Capital City into a war zone; The Raiders, who specialise in staging ambushes and striking hard and fast, and The Syndicate, a gang of professional bank robbers who will use any means necessary to obtain their illicit prizes. There will also be a new “heavy-handed” rival arm of the police force called the Viper division to contend with.
