Crysis gets its own Xbox 360 version?
In a Podcast from 1UP they talk about a discussion they had with the Crysis developers Crytek at CES, around 21-22 minute mark they confirm a new version of Crysis for Xbox 360. To quote:
“And with Crysis, the [Xbox] 360 game is not gonna be the same game. It’s in the same universe, but it’s using the DirectX9 engine, not the DirectX10 engine, so a lot of the hooks for Crysis, it needs to run deeper, it needs to go a lot more about the way the psysics and the way that the world is constructed, because the [Xbox] 360 version is not gonna be the sort of wowy or amazing [as the PC version]. And we were grilling him [the developer], saying, is it going to be like Far Cry and Far Cry Instincts. I mean, is it just a sort of different variation. And they said: no we’re not even trying to replicate Crysis, it’s going to be the same universe, some of the same story elements, but it’s not a port of the [PC] game in any way, because it would just be really disappointing otherwise [regarding the graphics].”

January 17 update: Cevat Yerli, CEO and President of Crytek and developer of Crysis, dismisses 1UP’s report of an Xbox 360 version of the PC game Crysis. To quote: “We hope we aren’t disappointing anyone, but contrary to any rumours that may be in circulation, neither Crytek nor any third parties are currently engaged in developing Crysis for console platforms. Our company’s sole focus at this time is to complete Crysis for PC.” – At VGB we still believe there will be a Crysis spinoff coming to Xbox 360 in the future. Either when the PC sales aren’t enough or go down, it’s only then when other versions will be announced.
