Crysis gets its own Xbox 360 version?

In a Podcast from 1UP they talk about a discussion they had with the Crysis developers Crytek at CES, around 21-22 minute mark they confirm a new version of Crysis for Xbox 360. To quote:

“And with Crysis, the [Xbox] 360 game is not gonna be the same game. It’s in the same universe, but it’s using the DirectX9 engine, not the DirectX10 engine, so a lot of the hooks for Crysis, it needs to run deeper, it needs to go a lot more about the way the psysics and the way that the world is constructed, because the [Xbox] 360 version is not gonna be the sort of wowy or amazing [as the PC version]. And we were grilling him [the developer], saying, is it going to be like Far Cry and Far Cry Instincts. I mean, is it just a sort of different variation. And they said: no we’re not even trying to replicate Crysis, it’s going to be the same universe, some of the same story elements, but it’s not a port of the [PC] game in any way, because it would just be really disappointing otherwise [regarding the graphics].”

January 17 update: Cevat Yerli, CEO and President of Crytek and developer of Crysis, dismisses 1UP’s report of an Xbox 360 version of the PC game Crysis. To quote: “We hope we aren’t disappointing anyone, but contrary to any rumours that may be in circulation, neither Crytek nor any third parties are currently engaged in developing Crysis for console platforms. Our company’s sole focus at this time is to complete Crysis for PC.” - At VGB we still believe there will be a Crysis spinoff coming to Xbox 360 in the future. Either when the PC sales aren’t enough or go down, it’s only then when other versions will be announced.

Let’s just hope the 360 version of Crysis is at least a complete game and doesn’t end just when you think it’s moving onto the next chapter! How long do we have to wait to spend more money and meet up with Prophet?!

yo PS3 Hater… why do you have to be so negative towards the PS3 dude?
yes 360 does have all of those things, but man all you are is someone (who is kinda like MS’s pet) who always dislikes something you don’t want or something oposite of your choise… sooo wait till next year when more of PS3’s better known titles come out. ten you can compare the two and see which one is the winner. oh and please EVERYONE talk about the subject.

Both consoles have advantages and disadvantages. Are there any updates to the story of Crysis on 360, ps3, etc.

The fact of the matter is that the 360 is for now the winner but only time will tell as the full power whitch is far greater than the 360 has not been used my major let down with both is the dx9 version, they knew when the consoles were in production that dx10 was on its way and yet they have no support for it, microsoft and ps3 = let down

I’ve given up on both 360 & PS3. They both can’t match up to PCs on MMO FPS. Live has terrible lag & it takes forever to get connected to a match of only 16 people like in Halo 3 (I have a 50Mbps Line) & forget about crappy PS3 online. Why waste my time. I would rather pay a fortune on a Gaming rig for quality FPS sessions than be forced to put up with online play that is 15 years behind! Also the lack of keyboard & mouse is a turn off both for FPS & RTS. There are far too many drawbacks on Console. Since I have absolutely zero interest in Japanese games (which if they not about childish creatures or plumbers are about under dressed boys that look like girls going on some generic crystal collecting quest to save the home village etc… Japs like it homo erotic I guess) there is nothing left for Adrenalin junkies like myself on consoles. Battlefield here I come! 64 Player glory all the way & 128 is just around the corner! So to all the console fan boys enjoy your 16 player uber lag “goodness” with 10 year olds .
