Capcom today announced that the Xbox 360 exclusive zombie horror game Dead Rising has shipped over one million copies worldwide in 2006.
First released in the US on August 8th 2006, the game has been a success in Capcom’s new strategy to create original games with a global audience in mind, especially refreshing to see at the start of a new console generation.
According to Mark Beaumont, executive vice president and head of consumer software for Capcom, the new zombie franchise will return to consoles in the future. To quote: “Bringing out Dead Rising has allowed us to establish a new franchise that we can use for years to come.” He also expects the upcoming (release in the US this Friday, January the 12th) Xbox 360 exclusive Lost Planet: Extreme Condition to outsell Dead Rising.
