Fallout 1 / Fallout 2 Bundle (Jewel Case)A SEC Filing by developer Interplay gives firm indications of plans for a Fallout MMORPG. To quote:

“The Fallout MMOG will be developed in the highly recognized Fallout post Nuclear Apocalyptic world giving consumers an ongoing virtual experience of today’s life as if the cold war, which lasted for the best part of the second half of last century, had led to a nuclear disaster.”

The document describes a project with a $75 million dollar budget due in 2010, with projecting that it would enough revenue to be profitable by year two. Bluesnews mentions they thought Interplay was dead, not surprising with no new releases in three years, but the document says production starts in January 2007.

ok if it is gonna play like fallout 3 it will be the greatest mmog ever because fallout 3 is amazing and no one has ever made an mmog like that

If they can build in phases to the MMO it would be absolutely magnificent. If done correctly this could be a revolutionary MMO for sure. The technology exists it’s just time to utilize it large scale.

if it looks like the first ones in the birds eye view and no first person and 3-d like fallout 3 it will be total shit and will PISS ME OFF

  • http://none Jk

Just wanted to come on here and say sexeduction is retarded, never having played the best of fallout games and only “liking” f3
i still play f2 to this day, its funny, both fallout 2 and 3 sit in front of me, and only one is installed.

Let’s be honest with ourselves, they’re pretty much wasting $75 million if they’re going to invest it into a tactical birds-eye MMORPG, quite frankly, I could download 5 other tactical games that are just as good, but had $10 million invested into them. It’s pretty obvious that Bethesda & Interplay have thrown away $75 Million if it’s going to be a tactical, and they’ve just thrown a whole lot of money down the drain.

Today’s MMORPG’s are next generation, it used to be tactical, now it’s been developed. There’s been a lot of magical crap about being a fairy fighting to save his master who’s a level 75 mage. I’m mentioning World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, etc. Even Maple Story, yes, that crappy little designed game that’s limited to all it’s features will most likely compare with the $75 Million ‘godly’ extension of Fallout..

But on the other hand, $75 Million, if I’m correct that’s either more or just a little less than they placed into Fallout 3 (not to mention the fact that they can always copy & paste the majority of coding). And Fallout 3, when I played that on PS3, it was hours of fun, it was the game we had all be searching for, and despite me being a fan of the Grand Theft Auto series, I found it better than both San Andreas and IV (maybe even combined). Volia, there we have it, pull that off, and use some of that $75 million to go towards advertisement, Bethesda & Interplay have made themselves a fortune. That would no doubt be the best MMORPG, and possibly the best game created in my eyes. Does anyone agree with me?

Btw, are there any actual sources, not rumours that can confirm whether it will be Tactical or a 1st/3rd Person shooter?

  • Laz

Lmao, you’re trying to compare an rpg with a gang warfare shoot’em up…. gimme a break…

Yes with out a doubt a tactical mmorpg would be alittle on the old fashioned side, however, if they make a mini or an alternate view in the state of a tactical view for the game… That would be a nice mesh, not everything has to be up close and personal.

Fallout 3 was decent, however, fallout was never ment to be a shoot’em up first person engine, so if you’re looking for something like that then wait for the next regurgitated version of Unreal Tournament version 5.3043241 w/e.

Ya, that would more than definetly be amazing they’ve got to make a lot ov severs though. however, i really hope if they do make and ending type thing i hope they don’t do what they did in Fallout 3.

  • Gurren

Also i have to agree with Jordy he/she has a very well made point.

  • Kissker

    Interplay cannot make it, period.

The deal was cancelled and the whole MMOG is in critical limits for even being born.
