Nintendo Europe revealed a release schedule for additional Virtual Console titles, which includes classic games like: Toe Jam & Earl, R-Type, Super Castlevania IV, and Super Probotector (also known as Contra with robots). The list shows the growing Virtual Console list for the rest of 2006 with Friday releases:

This is probably a good indicator of what the Americans can expect later this year on their Monday VC releases. Now let’s hope they release more of those Japanese VC launch games worldwide.

Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64)
F-Zero (Super Nintendo)
Donkey Kong Country (Super Nintendo)
Mario Bros. (NES)
The Legend of Zelda (NES)
Donkey Kong (NES)
Wario’s Woods (NES)

ITs good to see everything happen in Full swing
Hope the tempo is maintained throughout the gen!
It is a crying shame that we couldn’t get the enhanced version of the original Sonic the Hedgehog (Japanese v2.0 – look it up on Wikipedia if you’re not sure what I’m talking about). This version has slightly more complex and ambitious graphics but, more importantly, contained a number of bug fixes. It was only ever released in Japan, but was easily available in the UK, as it would play on a PAL Megadrive without any problems.
If you want to play Sonic the Hedgehog as it was supposed to be, get Sega Mega Collection for the Gamecube. There’s a cheat in there that allows you to select any of the three official version of Sonic the Hedgehog.
The Japanese version is actually the default in Mega Collection
