Wii Play in the UKNintendo of Europe has announced that last Friday at the Wii launch there, the new console sold 50,000 units in 12 hours. This is equal to the sales rate in America, since in these UK numbers also equated to one unit being sold every second.

Nintendo UK’s general manager David Yarnton said that the company is delighted with “the amazing response to Wii and that people of all ages and gaming experience are embracing the way that we are turning the industry on its head.”

Yes they will get a Wii and in 3 months time they will be selling their Wii once the novelty of the control system wears off and the realization that the games look no better than the gamecube/PS2, another EYE TOY in a bigger form….

fredd, while I agree that people won’t stay interested in the Wii if the Wii launch lineup is all they’ll get the first 3-6 months, I do believe people buying it know it’s not a 360 or PS3 graphics-wise. It’s all about the controls, and if in the first few months of 2007 Nintendo and third-parties manage to release a bunch of great fun games every month, Wii should do great this console generation.

PS: What Eye Toy games have you played that make you compare it to the Wii?
