CNN reporter knocks out Joystiq writer…

… in Wii Sports boxing 😛

It turns out CNN went undercover to find the true meaning of the Wiimote strap dilemma where people accidentally let their Wiimote slip out of their hands in to their TV. The CNN reporter also finds time to hang out with writers from Joystiq and a chiropractor in Times Square.

Wii Remote ControllerWe didn’t think it was that big of a deal with a few hyperactive folks flinging their controllers, especially since Nintendo warns in their manual and on the console itself to prevent something so stupid from happening. But of course a vocal minority of 15 straps breaking out of 1 to 2 million Wii controllers sold, makes for a more interesting story.

But all is well with Nintendo President Satoru Iwata already saying: “We are investigating. Some people are getting a lot more excited than we’d expected. We need to better communicate to people how to deal with Wii as a new form of entertainment.” The latest news on the net is that Nintendo have already fixed this problem by thickening the part of the Wii straps that connects to the Wii Remote Controller. Nice one, and those reporters looked/sounded like they were having a blast playing Wii. Video recorded by Wiinintendo
