Lumines 2 for PSPQ Entertainment’s Lumines 2 is the sequel to the extremely addictive puzzle/music-based PSP video game, Lumines. Gamers control squares made of four smaller block pieces that are dropped into the playing field one at a time to form same-color squares. The vertical “timeline” sweeps across the playing field from left to right and wipes the same-color squares from the playing field. Unmatched blocks pile up, and the game ends when the pile gets to the top of the playing screen. Advance through many action-packed levels, each with its own musical theme and sound effects.

The addictive puzzle action makes this a sequel worth playing. Find out why in this Lumines 2 video review.

To quote the video review: “If you’ve played games like Tetris, you’ll have no problems with Lumines II. Just like the original, the PSP controls are quick and responsive. You’ll have very little trouble adjusting to moving the blocks around on-screen unless you’re playing a wireless battle, where sometimes a bit of a stutter can impact key placement of the blocks. This doesn’t happen often enough to be a legitimate problem though, and Lumines II’s gameplay ends up being rather smooth in both the single and multiplayer modes.

Lumines II improves on its predecessor by offering up the same great core gameplay and a ton of new modes and features that are sure to keep you busy. If you didn’t like the first game, there are really no fundamental changes here to change your opinion. Some minor issues regarding the game’s visuals, occasional wireless hiccups, and a few other nitpicky complaints keep it from perfection, but overall, gamers on the go have plenty of reasons to regard Lumines II as the quintessential puzzler on Sony’s PSP.”
