Call of Duty 4 with modern war setting in development

Call of Duty 3 is barely out the door and a Ampednews source has already revealed Call of Duty 4 is in development at Infinity Ward, the development team behind the first two Call of Duty games. Listed are the first details:

* Call of Duty 4 will be coming to the PC as well as consoles. Where as Call of Duty 3 is only available on consoles, as well as the PSP.
* It will be based on modern combat, taking place on the battlefields of present day Middle East.
* While most shooters have two or three critical points on the head, Call of Duty 4 has 16. You can shoot the side of an opponent’s helmet to make it spin on their head, or knock the helmet clean off. Supposedly you will even be able to shoot an enemy’s ear off.
* Multiplayer features matches with 54 players.

While this info seems very plausible, according to Xboxic, Activision declined to confirm or deny its authenticity.

Some more details: In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare you’ll serve as part of the U.S. Army, U.S. Marines, and British S.A.S. to take on terrorists loyal to an aggressive Middle Eastern dictator. This war on terror must be fought all over the world — in locations as diverse as vessels at sea in the North Atlantic, secret terrorist cells in London, the urban streets of Eastern Europe, and, of course, the Middle East — as you try to stop a terrorist coalition from using its deadly chemical arsenal.

As a pilot in an Army attack helicopter, you’ll fly over cratered urban environments — with rocket-propelled grenades to boot — before you rope down as part of a Marine platoon to engage in close-quarters combat in a very different sort of environment from Call of Duty 2. It’s in this door-to-door implementation of battle that similarities to Rainbow Six 3 and Splinter Cell start to become apparent as you fight in squads, rappel down walls, and clear rooms with silenced guns, tear gas, flashbangs, and various specialized goggles. That doesn’t prevent you from utilizing all manner of authentic modern weaponry, however, including automatic grenade launchers, mines, and machine guns.

Modern Warfare will also feature deformable environments, where you can kick down and blow up doors, or take it to another next level with destructible walls, roads, buildings, and bridges. You’ll also be able to block doors with heavy obstacles like vehicles or furniture and block windows from grenades with a little chicken wire. But you’re not just limited to shooting what’s within your firearm’s reach: you can call in and laser-sight air strikes to knock out those pesky enemy tanks and sniper’s nests, too.

Call of duty 4 in WW11!!! i have cod big red one cod 2 and cod3 and i would hate for cod 4 to be modern combat. I mean If they do, im going to buy BIA:hells highway
modern combat would be good if you can picture the graphics then i’d get it but still rather ww2 on cod4

COD 4 has to stay in WWII! The war was 6 years long and there are plenty more huge areas of action that can be done in a game. Plus, modern warfare is too hi-tec. At least in WWII combat was based more on battle was more in your face with none of this destroying targets without even seeing them. Leave modern combat alone for a while.

I think thats the best part of having a modern warfare game now! The way you get or hit him with out him knowing. WW2 is in your face 50/50 chance of you getting him or you getting it. Dont want that anymore. I want some one to call it in or tag the dirtbag so I can send in artilary or a bunker buster or t-hawk missle or a gun ship on that position. WW2 is limited as far as great weapons to have. Tell me wouldn’t you want a 50cal sniper instead of a springfield or a abrams instead of the sherman hummm.. Come on over its ok.

yeah it better not be Middle East… Vietnam is cool, or id even like to see a WWI game.. instead of the dragged out WWII ( Although a lot is left out in WWII games, they can’t seem to add to make it better)

or even in the near future… not like battlefield 2142, but more like GRAW in the near future with somewhat modern guns but still at present times.. if your not trying to recreate a war it can be a lot easier and more can be added

I think call of duty 4 should be set in the early world ww1 including all the bog battles that took place during the war or have it set in vietnam jungles & citys of Vietnam its just to early to go to modern day combat,

Your just going to lose a lot of money making a modern day war. you were doing so good on all the other call of duty games but now youve just launched up to fast into the future stay in ww2 or go up to vietnam. Its just stupidity going up to fast id h8 it to be in modern day combat !!!!!!!!!

Most official websites have nothin on a new COD yet and it will be the next in the franchise for the PC so it wont be the 4th it will infact be the 3rd as COD 3 for then Console was made by a different developer.

It should be WWII. Make it like Company of heroes BUT FPS!!! That will be sweet!! Jeeps, Tanks, Htracks, mines, barbed wire, sand bags, medics…the works!!!
